A man is in custody in connection with the shooting death of an Estill County rescue dog. Deputies say the dog, which was a trained search and rescue bloodhound and service dog, was reported missing Sunday after it was let out and never returned. The dog was found shot to death in a field on Monday. A witness has provided investigators with information that helped them confirm that Charles Collins killed the dog with a shotgun. He’s charged with assault on a service animal and animal cruelty.
