It will be another two years before Patrick Smith gets the chance to ask to be paroled from prison. Smith is one of two men convicted of the New Year’s Day 2014 murder of Michael Hogg in Whitesburg. Smith has been behind bars for 4 years of his 20-year sentence, and was scheduled to appear before a parole board on Monday. However, a decision was made this week to defer his meeting with the parole board for two years. It was just about a year ago that James Huffman was sentenced to life in prison for his role in Hogg’s murder.
