One juvenile is behind bars and a second may end up there too according to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department.
A threat made Thursday morning led to lockdowns at Hazard High School and Perry County Central High School.
The sheriff’s department said one juvenile has already been charged in connection to the threat and is in the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center.
In a Facebook post Friday, the department wrote that possible charges are pending on another juvenile in connection to the threat. Authorities said they take any and all threats seriously and are continuing to monitor the issue.
School resource officers are placed throughout both school districts. The sheriff’s department said its children’s safety is its number one priority.
