Knox County officials confirmed one person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Knox County
It happened on Highway 11, about 3 miles north of Barbourville, around 11 p.m. Sunday.
Police said Robert Jackson, age 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said Jackson was heading south on the road when he lost control and dipped onto the shoulder. It appears that Jackson then over-corrected and crossed the northbound lane. He hit an embankment and his vehicle flipped, throwing Jackson from the vehicle.
Nobody was in the vehicle with Jackson. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan is handling the investigation into the crash.
Officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
