Hang on to your pocketbook… there are some new taxes that hit Kentucky residents next week. Starting Sunday… expect to pay more for things like car repairs, gym memberships, and trips to the vet. A new 6-percent sales tax is getting tacked on to those services. That goes into effect on July first, along with a new 6-percent tax on admission for cultural and athletic events, even for non-profit organizations. The state Supreme Court recently ruled that nonprofits aren’t exempt from sales and use taxes.
