Kentucky State Police tell us one person has died after a crash on Highway 80 in Knott County Friday morning.
They tell us two vehicles were involved in the crash.
The collision happened near the Knott and Floyd County lines near the Rock Fork Community.
Officials say a truck collided with the back of a tractor-trailer. Both were traveling eastbound. The driver of the truck was entrapped and had to be freed by the Ball Creek Fire Department. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The road was shut down for a period of time but the scene is clear and all lanes are back open.
Police identified the victim as Zachary Tyler Patrick, 23, of Emmalena. Patrick was taken to the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by the Perry County Coroner’s office.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. Toxicology reports of both drivers are pending.
