On Monday, officials with the Lotts Creek Community School and those with the Knott County School Board met in Franklin Circuit Court to discuss the ongoing battle to keep the Cordia School open.
They also discussed the Knott County School Board’s decision to end a lease with the school. Officials representing Cordia said ending the lease was in violation of the restraining order that has been in place since January.
Teachers at the school said it came as a shock to hear that the school board decided to end the lease.
School officials said all safety issues have been addressed, including the repair of the auditorium roof. They said the issue now is whether the Knott County School Board was allowed to end the lease.
The court will soon hold another meeting to discuss the school’s lease.
