The Letcher County Central Cougars baseball team has won 3 in a row and is 11-8 on the 2014 season heading into a big weekend of play.  The Cougars beat Jenkins on the road in a district matchup last night 21-3.  Tonight the LCC Cougars will take on Breathitt County at home at 6:00pm and then Saturday the Cougars will host the 3rd Annual Buddy Roe Invitational.  The Cougars will play Harlan County at 10 Saturday morning then play Estill County at 12:30pm.  Harlan County and Estill County will play the final game Saturday at 3:00pm to wrap up the Buddy Roe Classic.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will play Knott County Central at home this afternoon at 5:00pm in a district game.  

In high school softball, the 16-2 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are getting ready for their 8th straight appearance in the All A State Tournament tomorrow at Jack Fischer Park in Owensboro.  They play Middlesboro at 9:00am Saturday to begin pool play of the double elimination All A State Tournament.

The 6-7 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play in and host the Wizard of Ozz Classic featuring several teams today and Saturday at LCC.  The tournament will honor retiring Letcher Central Athletic Director Ozz Jackson.  In the tournament, the Lady Cougars will play Belfry this afternoon at 5:30pm and then Shelby Valley at 8:30pm.  They will also play on Saturday.  

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Track teams will compete today in the Area 9 District Championship being held at Leslie County High School.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Tennis Teams will take on Oneida Baptist today here at home at 5:30pm.

The Reds took 3 of 4 games from the Pirates in Pittsburgh and have won 7 of their last 9 games.

They are now 5 games back of Milwaukee in 3rd place in the NL Central with a 500 record of 11-11.  

The Reds will wrap up this 3 city 10 game road trip with a series this weekend in Atlanta against the Braves.   Game one tonight is at 7:35.  They play at 7:05 on Saturday and 1:35pm on Sunday.  Catch all 3 games on AM 920 WTCW.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers beat the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars at LCC Wednesday 16-5 in 6 innings for a big county, district and region win.  The Lady Cavs are 16-2 and now get ready for their 8th straight appearance in the All A State Tournament this Saturday at Jack Fischer Park in Owensboro.  They play Middlesboro at 9:00am Saturday in pool play of the double elimination tournament.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars Softball team picked up a nice 12-2 14th Region win over Perry County Central at home last night to even their record at 6-6.  

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers beat Hazard at home yesterday 16-1 in 3 innings to improve to 15-2 overall.

Jenkins and LCC softball will match up for the first time this season on Wednesday at LCC in a county district matchup and we'll bring you the game live here on The Bulldog.  Pre-Game begins at 5:45pm with first pitch at 6:00pm.

In high school baseball, the Letcher County Central Cougars went on the road last night and knocked off previously unbeaten Knott County Central in Hindman.  1-0 was the final score and it was a district win for LCC.  

The Cougars are 10-8 now and will play another district game at Ramey's Fork against the Jenkins Cavaliers this afternoon at 5:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Track teams both won 1st place in the Leslie County Open Meet last Thursday.   LCC will compete this Thursday in the Leslie County All Comers Meet at Hyden and Friday in the Area 9 District Champions Meet also at Leslie County.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Tennis Teams will face Knott County Central at home this afternoon at 5:30pm and welcome Harlan Ind. for a match on Thursday at 5:30pm,

Congratulations to Letcher County Central Senior Leanna Bryant as she will be signing scholarship papers this Wednesday, April 23,at 11:00am in the LCC Library.  She is signing to run Cross Country and Track at The University of Pikeville. (UPike)

The Reds lost to the Pirates in the first game of 4 in Pittsburgh last night.  The final was 6-5.   The Reds are in 4th place in the NL Central, 6.5 games back of Milwaukee and 8-11 overall.  The Reds play game 2 of the series against the Pirates tonight at 7:05.  Pregame begins at 6:35 on AM 920.

The 6-6 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will take on the 15-2 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers this afternoon at LCC in a big district and region matchup.  We'll broadcast the game live here on the Bulldog.  First pitch is at 6:00pm.  Pre-game begins at 5:45.

The 14th Region All A champion Lady Cavaliers will play this Saturday in the double elimination All A State Tournament at Fischer Park in Owensboro.

The 10-8 Letcher County Central Cougar baseball team has a busy schedule through the weekend.  They will play June Buchanan in a district double header at home Thursday.   The First game is at 5:30pm.   On Friday they will take on Breathitt County at home at 6:00pm and then Saturday the Cougars will host the 3rd Annual Buddy Roe Invitational.  The Cougars will play Harlan County at 10 Saturday morning then play Estill County at 12:30pm.  Harlan County and Estill County will play at 3:00pm to wrap up the day.

The Jenkins Cavaliers next baseball game is today at home against Pike County Central starting at 6:00pm.

In high school softball, the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers went 3-1 in the Lyndell Potter Memorial Tournament over the weekend at Pikeville High School.

On Friday Jenkins beat East Ridge 3-1.  Saturday they beat Clay County 5-2 in 8 innings and Belfry 14-2.   They lost to Johnson Central 11-1.

The Lady Cavaliers are 14-2 overall and will play Hazard at home this afternoon at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars haven't played since Thursday.   The LCC-South Floyd game Saturday was cancelled.

The Lady Cougars are home today to face Perry County Central at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar baseball team is 9-8 overall.  

They lost to Powell County at home on Friday night 8-7 in 8 innings and beat Bath County 16-6 on Saturday at Cordia in the David Melton Classic.

The Cougars are on the road to face unbeaten, 12-0, Knott County Central in a district game at Hindman this afternoon.  First pitch is at 5:30pm.

The Cougars play at Jenkins on Tuesday.  That's the next ballgame for the Cavaliers.  Game time is 5:00pm.

The Reds have won 4 of 5 games, including 2 of 3 from the Cubs in Chicago over the weekend, and have climbed into 3rd place in the NL Central.  They are 8-10 overall and 5 1/2 games behind Milwaukee.

The Reds begin a 4 game series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh tonight.   Game one is at 7:05pm this evening with pregame at 6:35 on AM 920.
