The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars game with Betsy Layne scheduled for last night was postponed due to lack of heat in the Betsy Layne Gym.  

Up next for the 1-1 Lady Cougars will be the home opener this Friday.  It will be a cross county matchup with the unbeaten Jenkins Lady Cavaliers.  

Gametime is at 7:30pm and we'll broadcast the game here on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The Lady Cavaliers are 4-0 after knocking off June Buchanan in a district game last night at home.  The final was 80-54.

Jenkins Girls will play Knott County Central at home tonight at 6:00pm then at LCC on Friday.

The 8-2 #11 ranked UK Wildcats are back in action tonight at Rupp Arena against Boise State.  Game time is 9:00pm with pregame at 7:30pm on 103.9 The Bulldog.  

The Cats will play North Carolina at Chapel Hill this Saturday.

The unbeaten UK Women's basketball team, fresh off the 4 OT win over Baylor Friday will next take on Depaul Thursday night in Chicago.

Congratulations to the Belfry Pirates and coach Phillip Haywood for winning their 4th KHSAA high school football state title.

The Pirates beat previously unbeaten Wayne County 3-0 on a wintry Friday afternoon in Bowling Green.  

It was the Pirates first title since 2004 and they finish the season at 14-1.  That one loss coming to Johnson Central.

In the other state championship games in Bowling Green Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

Class 4A Collins beat Highlands 37-34

In high school basketball over the weekend,  the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys lost to Corbin 66-50 in the Big Red Shootout held at Clay County in Manchester.  

The 1-2 Cougar Boys will next play Phelps at home this Thursday.  We'll broadcast that game live here on the Bulldog.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys lost to Jackson City Friday night on the road 71-42.

The 0-2 Cavaliers will play June Buchanan in their home opener tonight.  It's a district game starting at 7:30.

In Girls High School Basketball,  The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars won their first game of the season beating Jackson City on the road 67-56.

The 1-1 Lady Cougars will be on the road tonight to face Betsy Lane at 8:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are 3-0 now after beating Cordia 79-24 Friday and South Floyd 82-28 on Saturday.  The Lady Cavs play June Buchanan at home tonight at 6:00pm in a district game and part of a boys/girls doubleheader.

Also Saturday Knott County Central beat Sheldon Clark 47-42.

It's high school basketball Live tonight on 103.9 The Bulldog as the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will take on Jackson City at home in the LCC Gym.

The Cougars are 0-1 are losing their season opener at home in a close to Harlan County by 4 on Tuesday night.

Jackson City is 1-0 after beating Menifee County 86-79 also on Tuesday.

The Cougar boys and Jackson City JV plays at 6:00pm tonight with varsity tipoff at 7:30.

Josh Owens had 29 points and 11 rebounds and Chippy Frazier nailed 4 three's and put in 20 points to lead the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys to a 14th Region win over Jackson City at home Thursday night.

The Cougars, who are now 1-1 beat the Tigers 68-58 in the game heard live on 103.9 The Bulldog.

Hazard over Owsley County 77-32

The LCC Cougar boys are right back in action tonight with their first road game.

They will take on the Corbin Redhounds in the Big Red Shootout being played at Clay County High School.  Game time is 6:00pm.

The other game in the Big Red Shootout is Clay County taking on South Laurel.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys will also play tonight on the road at Jackson City with tip off at 6:00pm.

The 2013 KHSAA High School Football State Championship games will be played today and tomorrow, weather permittting, at  LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

Today's 3 championship games will be in Class A Mayfield taking on Williamsburg at 11:00am.

Unbeaten Wayne County takes on Belfry in 3A this afternoon at 3:00pm.  

Tonight  at 7:00pm Meade County will battle Scott County for the 6A championship.

On Saturday at 11:00am the Class 2A championship game will be DeSales against Newport Central Catholic.  

At 3:00pm tomorrow Collins takes on Highlands in the 4A championship game and then at 7:00pm Bowling Green battles unbeaten Pulaski County for the 5A championship.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys played the season opening game last night at home against Harlan County.

The Black Bears beat the Cougars 61-57.

The Cougars were up by 2 at halftime but were outscored 21-12 in the 4th quarter.

The Cougars were led in scoring with 23 from Chippy Frazier.

Josh Owens added 12, Jordan Gregory 10 and Tyler Collins had 8.

Harlan County's Zack Caldwell had 17.

The LCC Boys will next play Jackson City at home Thursday night and we'll bring you the game live here on the Bulldog with pregame starting at 7.  

Varsity tipoff is at 7:30.

Also in an early season 53rd District Matchup Knott County Central, ranked #6 in the state, beat Jenkins 93-25.

Knott Central Junior and Tennessee signee Camron Justice scored 27 points to move him over 2,000 points in his high school career.  

Jenkins was led by Randy Potter with 10.

The Cavalier boys will next play at Jackson City Friday night at 6:00pm.

Buckhorn knocked off Owsley County 56-30
Leslie County 64 Powell County 61
and Perry County Central knocked off Breathitt County 74-52.

In girls basketball last night the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers began the new season with a nice win over J.I. Burton of Wise County on the road.
The final was 85-30.  

The Lady Cavaliers will next take on Cordia in a district game Friday night in their home opener.

One other girls high school basketball game last night had #16 Perry County Central beating Middlesboro 65-42.

The Lady Commodores were led by Miss Kentucky candidate Kayla Rankin who had 42 points and 30 rebounds.

The #3 UK Basketball Cats are now 7-1 and their next game will be at AT & T Stadium in Arlington Texas this Friday night against Baylor.   Game time is 10:00pm with pregame at 8:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The game is part of a UK-Baylor mens/womens  doubleheader.   The women's game will be first at 7:30pm.  The UK Women are ranked #7 and unbeaten at 8-0.
