The Whitesburg Middle School boys basketball A team competed in the KBA state middle school tournament in Lexington this past weekend and finished in the final 8 of their region.

Whitesburg finished in the top 32 out of 80 middle schools.

Also, the Jackets competed in the BCI 7th grade State Tournament a couple weeks ago and finished state runner up.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys got a win over Pike County Central 55-44 last night on senior night at LCC.  

Seniors Josh Owens, Kyler Lucas and Chippy Frazier along with 5 cheerleaders and 3 dance team members were recognized before the game.

Owens led the Cougars in scoring  with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.   Chippy Frazier added 13.

The Cougar boys have added an extra game to the schedule and will finish the regular season tonight as they play Oneida Baptist at home.  

The Mountaineers feature former Cougar player Sam Robinson and are coached by his dad David Robinson.  

Tonight's game times are different than normal with JV at 5 and Varsity at 6:30.

103.9 The Bulldog will broadcast the LCC-OBI boys game tonight.

Appalachian Wireless Pre-Game will begin at 6.

Jenkins boys lost to Buckhorn on the road last night 88-47.  The Cavaliers will play  Betsy Layne tonight at home to wrap up the regular season.

Girls high school scores from last night:

Jenkins blasted Pike County Central 89-51.  

The Lady Cavaliers will finish the regular season tonight at home against Betsy Layne in boys/girls doubleheader starting at 6.

Also Knott County Central beat Hazard 62-54 last night.  

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars have wrapped up the season at 19-7 and will play Wednesday of next week in the 53rd District Tournament.

Boys High School Basketball from Wednesday:
Leslie County over June Buchanan 102-54, Betsy Layne 67 Magoffin County 61 and Pikeville beat Pike County Central 74-68.

Tonight is Senior Night for the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys at home as they take on Pike County Central.   

The JV game will be at 6 and Varsity at 7:30.  

LCC will recognize Josh Owens, Chippy Frazier and Kyler Lucas along with 5 LCC Cheerleaders.  

The Cougar boys have also added an extra game and will finish the regular season on Friday as they play Oneida Baptist, featuring former Cougar player Sam Robinson.  

OBI is coached by his dad David Robinson.  

The game times are 5:00pm for JV and 6:30 for Varsity.   

103.9 The Bulldog will broadcast both games for the LCC Boys.  

Pre-Game begins tonight at 7 and at 6 on Friday.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys will play at Buckhorn tonight and Betsy Layne Friday to wrap up the regular season.

The Letcher County Central Wrestling Team competed in the Regionals in Ashland over the weekend and Dakota Green placed as an alternate in the state meet in Lexington.

The 4-20 Jenkins Cavalier will have 3 games to wrap up the regular season this week.

In their first game in 2 weeks, the Letcher County Central Cougar boys lost to Buckhorn last night at home 70-66.

The 14-12 Cougars will have Senior Night Thursday as they take on Pike County Central.   JV is at 6.  Varsity at 7:30.

Josh Owens, Chippy Frazier and Kyler Lucas along with 5 LCC Cheerleaders will be recognized.

We'll broadcast the LCC Pike Central boys game on Thursday here on the Bulldog.

The Appalachian Wireless Pre-Game Show begins at 7:00.

The Cougar boys have also added a game with Oneida Baptist on Friday at home.

Start time is 5 for JV and 6:30 for Varsity.  

We'll also bring you that game here on the Bulldog.

Jenkins boys lost to Hazard last night on the road, 72-41.   

Jenkins will play at Buckhorn Thursday night in their next game.  

They finish the regular season at home on Friday against Betsy Layne.

Last night at Shelby Valley, the Lady Wildcats topped the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers 81-44.

Jenkins Girls are now 15-11 and will play Pike County Central Thursday at home and then Betsy Layne at home on Friday to finish the regular season.

This is the final week of regular season play for boys & girls high school basketball before district tournaments begin on Monday February 24th.

Unless they re-schedule a missed game, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars have wrapped up the season with no games scheduled this week.  

They finish the regular season at 19-7 and will be the #1 seed in the 53rd District Tournament.

The 15-10 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers have 3 games left this week.  

They play at Shelby Valley Tuesday, Pike County Central at home Thursday and Betsy Layne at home Friday.  

The 14-11 Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will have 2 games left in the regular season this week.   

Tuesday night they play Buckhorn at home for Senior Night honoring Josh Owens, Chippy Frazier and Kyler Lucas.

Jennifer O'Neil scored 24 points and sparked a comeback as the #18 Kentucky Women rallied for a 75-71 victory over #8 Tennessee on Sunday, earning them their first win in Knoxville since 1985.

The #14 UK men lost to #3 Florida on Saturday night 69-59 for their first loss in Rupp this season.  

Kentucky will play at Ole Miss on Tuesday night in their next game.
