Congratulations to Covington Catholic.   The Colonels are the 2014 KHSAA Whitaker Bank Boys State Tournament Champion.

They beat Scott County in Sunday's championship game 59-51 in Overtime.

Cov Cath finishes at 33-2.

The Letcher County Central Cougar baseball team is now 3-2 on the season.    

The Cougars beat Sullivan North TN 10-7 on Friday night at home.  

They also split a double header on the road Saturday against Volunteer HS in Church Hill, Tennessee.

They won 4-2 and lost 9-5.

Up next for LCC baseball is a game at Harlan County, tomorrow, Tuesday at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Cavalier baseball team is 0-3 to begin the year after losing Friday on the road to Pike County Central 5-2.   

Jenkins will next play Cordia in a district game this Friday at home.  

Gametime is 5:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Softball season got off to a big start Saturday in the season opener at home as the Lady Cougars put away Pike County Central 15-0 in 4 innings.  

The next game for the Lady Cougars will be at South Floyd a week from today on Monday March 31st at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers softball team suffered their first loss of the season Saturday in Winchester losing 8-1 to George Rogers Clark.  

The 3-1 Lady Cavaliers will be back home for a district game this afternoon against Knott County Central.  

Game time is 6:00pm.

The UK Wildcats beat the #1 seed in the Midwest and previously undefeated Wichita State Shockers 78 to 76 Sunday afternoon in St. Louis to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

The Cats will now face #4 seed and in state rival Louisville in the Sweet 16 in Indianapolis Friday night with tipoff 9:45pm.  Pre-game begins at 8:00pm here on the Bulldog.   

The Coach Cal Show and Big Blue Weekly will air at 6:00pm Tuesday here on the Bulldog.

The UK Women are in action tonight against Syracuse at Memorial Gym in Lexington in the NCAA Tournament.  The winner advances to the Sweet 16.  Game time is 6:40pm and on ESPN2.

14th Region basketball champion Knott County Central had their season come to an end Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 State Tournament at Rupp Arena in Lexington.  

The Patriots lost to Bowling Green 65-58.   It was the Patriots 3rd straight trip to the Sweet 16 but they end the year at 25-7.

Clay County, the 13th Region Champion, played in the final opening round game last night and lost in a battle to Covington Catholic 80-78.

That leaves only one mountain team, Johnson Central still playing today as the quarterfinals get underway.

Today's schedule of 4 games will be the afternoon session staring at at 12 noon with Hopkinsville vs. Trinity, then Scott County plays Johnson Central at 1:30.

Tonight's evening session begins at 6:30 with McCracken County taking on Bowling Green and around 8:00 Bardstown plays Covington Catholic.

The semi-finals will be Saturday night at 6:30 and 8 and the championship game will be at 2:00pm Sunday.

The Letcher County Central Cougar baseball team is now 1-1 on the season.    

They lost at Union HS in Wise County VA on Wednesday 12-6 but got a big win last night in the home opener at LCC.   

Sophomore Andrew Fields pitched 4 innings of 1 hit ball and the Cougar blasted Leslie County 15-1.

LCC Baseball is back home tonight as they welcome Sullivan North, TN.   First pitch is 6:00pm

The Cougars will then hit the road to Church Hill TN to play Volunteer HS on Saturday in a double header at 1 and 3:30pm.

The Jenkins Cavalier baseball team will next play Pike County Central on the road tonight at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavalier Softball team is now 2-0 after beating Hazard on the road last night 4-1.

The Jenkins Lady Cavalier Softball team shutout June Buchanan 15-0 in 3 innings to win their season opener at home in a district game on Tuesday.  

The Lady Cavaliers will be on the road to play Hazard this afternoon.   

Hazard beat Knott County Central 4-2 in 8 innings yesterday.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Softball team opens their season this Saturday at home against Pike County Central.  

First pitch is at 2:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Baseball  season opening game at Union High School in Wise County was postponed yesterday.  

The Cougars and Union will make up that game today at 6:00pm

The Cougars home opener with Leslie County is set for tomorrow, Thursday and we'll bring you that game live here on the Bulldog.  First Pitch is at 5:30pm.  Pre-Game begins at 5:15.

The Reds has Tuesday off in spring training and will resume play tonight with a game against the Kansas City Royals at 9:05pm.

Opening Day for the Cincinnati Reds is March 31st at GABP against the St. Louis Cardinals.

One mountain team will be in action today and that is 15th Region Champion Johnson Central, returning for the 3rd year in a row.

The Golden Eagles will play Campbell County at 8:00pm tonight.

The other games today will be at 12 noon with South Oldham taking on Hopkinsville, at 1:30 this afternoon Louisville Trinity takes on Owensboro and at 6:30pm tonight it's Scott County and Fleming County.  

14th Region champion Knott County Central will also be playing in 3 straight state tournaments as they take on Bowling Green out of Region 4 tomorrow afternoon at 1:30pm.

13th Region winner Clay County will take on Covington Catholic in the final opening round game of the state tournament tomorrow evening at 8:00pm.

The other two games on Thursday are McCracken County vs. Wayne County and Bardstown plays PRP.

The quarterfinals will be Friday, semi-finals on Saturday and championship game on Sunday afternoon.

The Whitaker Bank KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 got underway yesterday at Rupp Arena in Lexington.  

In the afternoon session Hopkinsville beat South Oldham 83-62 and Trinity held off Owensboro 55-41.

The night evening games had 15th Region champion, Johnson Central advancing to the final eight with a close win over Campbell County 58-56 and Scott County beat Fleming County 77-66.

The other 2 mountain teams will be action today.   

This afternoon at 12 noon McCracken County will face Wayne County followed around 1:30, 14th Region Champion, Knott County Central will battle Bowling Green.

Tonight's final 2 games of the opening round will feature Bardstown and PRP at 6:30pm, followed by 13th Region Champion Clay County playing Covington Catholic around 8:00pm.

The quartersfinals are Friday, semi-finals on Saturday night and championship game Sunday afternoon.

The LCC Boys and Girls Tennis Teams will play on Saturday at home against Lee County and June Buchanan.  The matches start at 9:00am.

Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman was carried off on a stretcher after being struck in the face by a line drive off the bat of Royals catcher Salvador Perez during Wednesday night's Spring Training game.

The terrifying moment abruptly ended the game in the sixth inning with the Royals declared the winner by a score of 6-3.

The Reds said Chapman was taken to Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City, where tests indicated fractures above his left eye and nose. He was transferred to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, where he will undergo further testing today.

The Reds will take on the Rangers this afternoon at 4:05.

Opening Day for the Cincinnati Reds is now less than 2 weeks away when they open March 31st at GABP against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Red have now won 5 games in a row in Spring Training.  

They beat the Indians yesterday 5-4.

The Reds have today off and will battle the Royals at 9:05pm Wednesday.  

Pre-game begins at 8:50pm Wednesday night on AM 920 WTCW.

Johnson Central, the 15th Region champion, will play Campbell County at 8:00pm Wednesday night.

14th Region champion Knott County Central will  play Bowling Green out of Region 4 Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm.

13th Region winner Clay County will take on Covington Catholic in the final opening round game of the state tournament Thursday evening at 8:00pm.
