Last night at Letcher County Central High School, the Knott County Central Patriot boys achieved at least a tie for the 53rd district regular season title as they beat the LCC Cougars 64-35.   

The Patriots are now 15-4 and the Cougars fall to 12-9 overall and have lost back to back district games.  

Camron Justice had 24 to lead all scorers and Evan Hall added 15.  

The Cougars were led by Torell Carter with 10 points and 8 rebounds.  

Josh Owens also had 10.

The Cougars will next face the 14-4 Perry County Central Commodores Thursday at home in a 14th Region game.  

JV begins at 6 with varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavaliers lost a district game to Cordia at home last night 70-26.  

The Cavaliers continue district play as they take on Letcher County Central Friday at Jenkins.  

JV at 6 and Varsity at 7:30.

The 14-6 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are back in action tonight at home as they welcome Central High School out of Wise County, VA, weather permitting.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are 13-7 overall now after losing to June Buchanan on the road Monday night 76-70.  

The Lady Cavaliers have lost 3 in a row and will play at Pikeville Thursday at 6:00pm.

LSU led wire to wire to upset the #11 Kentucky Wildcats 87-82 on Tuesday night.  

The Cats are now 15-5 overall and 5-2 in the SEC.  

They will play at Missouri this Saturday with Pre-Game on the Bulldog at 11:30am and tipoff at 1.  

The Coach Cal Show with Tom Leach will air tonight at 6:00pm on the Bulldog, your home of the Big Blue.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars game against Perry County Central last night was postponed and rescheduled for February 12 at PCC.

The 14-6 Lady Cougars will next face Central High School out of Wise County, VA, Wednesday night at home.  

JV at 6 with varsity at 7:30.  We'll broadcast the game here on the Bulldog and 1039thebulldog.com.  

The Cougar Countdown Pre-Game Show begins at 7.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will return to action this Thursday on the road at Pikeville.  

Game time is 6:00pm.  

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys have a district game tonight at home with Knott County Central.   

There has been a slight adjustment in game time for tonight.  

JV will start at 5:30pm and the Varsity game will tip off at 7:00.

The All A State Tournaments begin later this week at the Frankfort Convention Center.

In girls play from the mountains, 13th Region champ Harlan will play University Heights Wednesday morning at 10am, 15th Region winner Paintsville will battle Newport Central Catholic on Wednesday at 5:00pm and 14th Region champ Leslie County will play Sayre High School this Wednesday at 11:30am.

In the boys All A State Tournament also being played in Frankfort... 15th Region winner Betsy Layne takes on Glasgow Thursday at 5:00pm, 13th Region champ Jackson County will take on Somerset at 6:30pm Thursday and 14th Region winner Cordia will play Carroll County Thursday at 8:00pm.   

Good Luck to all the mountain teams in the All A State Tournament.  

The UK Wildcats are back on the road tonight with a game in Baton Rouge against the LSU Tigers.    

Winter weather in Louisiana may impact tonight's game but as of now gametime is 9:00pm and we'll join the UK-LSU at tipoff just after the LCC-Knott Central Boys game here on the Bulldog.  

The Coach Cal Show will air this week on Wednesday starting at 6:00pm here on the Bulldog.

It went to double overtime but the Letcher County Central Cougars came up one point shy in the upset bid against the Cordia Lions in last night's boys high school basketball game at LCC.

In the game you heard live on the Bulldog.  The Cougars got down to Cordia by 17 at one point in the game before climbing back into it after halftime and ending up tied at 59 all at the end of regulation.

The score was tied 64 all at the end of the the first overtime.

The Cougars Jordan Gregory missed a shot with about 4 seconds to go in double overtime and Cordia held on for the 69-68 win.

The Cougars were led by Josh Owens with 24, 22 of those coming in the 2nd half.  Chippy Frazier had 23 before fouling out.

The Cougars fall to 12-8 with the loss and will next face Estill County on the road at Irvine Saturday afternoon.   

The freshmen play at 1, JV at 2 and Varsity at 3:30.

Hazard beat Breathitt County 58-51
and Knott County Central over June Buchanan 83-51

The 3-11 Jenkins Cavalier boys will play Jackson City at home tonight in their next game.  

JV at 6 with varsity at 7:30.

The 13-6 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will next play Knott County Central in a district game at home tonight with JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.

The Lady Cougars beat Knott Central at Hindman earlier in the year 59-43.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars got a district win Friday night beating Knott County Central at home 56-35.

They have won 9 of 10 games and are 14-6 on the season.  

The Lady Cougars will travel to Perry County Central tonight for a 14th Region battle with the 10-6 Perry County Central Lady Commodores at John C. Combs Arena.   

Perry Central lost to Leslie County at home Friday night 70-66.

Tonight's LCC-PCC girls game begins with JV at 6 and Varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys got their 4th win of the season Friday night beating Jackson City at home 71-69.  

The 4-11 Cavaliers will play at June Buchanan tonight as part of a boys/girls doubleheader with game time around 7:30.

The All A State Tournaments begin later this week at the Frankfort Convention Center.

It's Letcher County Central Cougar high school basketball tonight on the Bulldog!

There has been a change in the schedule and game time as the 12-7 Cougars will take on Cordia in a big district game tonight at LCC.  

This is the makeup game that was postponed Tuesday due to the weather. It will be Varsity only and game time is set for 6:00pm

The LCC-Perry County Central game that was orginally on the schedule for tonight has been moved to next Thursday January 30th at LCC.  

The Cordia-LCC Cougar boys game tonight will Varsity only and begins at 6:00pm.

The 3-11 Jenkins Cavalier boys will play Jackson City at home this Friday in their next game.  

JV at 6 with varsity at 7:30.
