LCC Boys and Girls soccer teams played in a home doubleheader last night.  The LCC girls lost to Johnson Central 5-1 and the LCC boys shut out Buckhorn 10-0.

They will have another boys/girls doubleheader on the road at Paintsville this Thursday.  Girls at 6:00pm and boys at 8:00pm.  It wll be the last regular season game for the girls.  The boys will wrap up the regular season with a game at Whitley County Saturday morning at 11:00am.

The boys and girls 53rd District Soccer Tournament wlil be at Letcher County Central this year and it starts this Monday October 13.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball ended a 6 game winning streak last night losing at home to Johnson Central 3-1.  The Lady Cougars play Thursday at Pikeville starting at 7:00pm.

Jenkins Lady Cavalier Volleyball will play next at South Floyd Thursday at  6:00pm.

The 4-2 Letcher County Central Cougars football team will be back in action this Friday at home to begin district play against Harlan County in the Friends of Coal Bowl.  Pre-game begins at 6:45pm Friday with kick off at 7:30.

The LCC Cougar Coaches Show with Mike Holcomb from Pine Mountain Grill will return tomorrow, Thursday, at 5:30pm.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will be home this Friday to begin district play in Class A as they take on Pineville.  Game time is 7:30pm.

The 4-1 UK Wildcats be home to face Louisiana Monroe or ULM this Saturdayat Commonwealth Stadum in Lexington.  KIckoff is at 12 noon.  Pre-game starts at 10:30am Saturday morning here on 103.9 The Bulldog!

The Letcher County Central Boys & Girls Soccer teams battled it out against Region rival Perry County Central on the road last night.  

In game 1, the LCC girls lost 2-0 and in game 2 the LCC boys lost in a great match 6-5 in a shootout with penalty kicks.

The LCC girls are 3-4 overall and the boys are 4-3.   They next play a boys/girls doubleheader at home against Hazard this Thursday with girls at 6:00pm and boys at 8:00pm.


Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team lost Monday at Johnson Central 3-0 and lost last night at Leslie County 3-1.  They are 5-6 overall and the Lady Cougars take on June Buchanan at home in a district doubleheader this evening at 5:30 and 6:30.

Jenkins Lady Cavalier Volleyball is 5-5 and will play Shelby Valley at home Thursday at 6:00pm.


It's week 5 of high school football and the Letcher County Central Cougars are on the road for the first time this year.   The 2-2 Cougars play the 1-2 Sheldon Clark Cardinals at Inez in Martin County.   Kickoff is at 7:30.  Pregame begins at 6:45 here on the Bulldog.

We'll have the LCC Cougar Coaches Show tomorrow, Thursday, at 5:30pm from Pine Mountain Grill.

Jenkins will be home this play to play South Floyd Friday at 7:30pm.

Week #1 of high school football across the mountains and the state was plagued with storms & lightning delays along with postponed and shortened games.

The Letcher County Central Cougars welcomed the Berea Pirates Friday to play in the Sports R Us Kickoff Classic and the game only lasted 8 minutes and 50 seconds.  With 3:10 to go and the Cougars up 30 to 0 the game was delayed by lightning and eventually called off with the Cougars declared the winner.  

LCC Senior QB Zane Blair was 6 of 7 passing for 97 yards and 3 TD's with 3 different receivers, Hunter Hall, Isaiah Tyree and Tanner Lucas.

The other Cougar TD was a 35 yard run by Jaylyn Williams on his only carry of the game.

The Cougars had a total offense of 193 yards on 12 plays and four possessions.

The Cougars will play 0-1 McCreary Central this Friday at home.  Game time is 7:30pm.  Pregame begins at 6:45pm here on the Bulldog.

Jenkins and Phelps played to a 0-0 halftime score before the game was called due to storms.  It will go down as a tie for both teams.

Jenkins will play on the road at Allen Central this Friday at 7:30pm.

In Volleyball Saturday, Letcher County Central played in the Champions of the Mountains Classic.

They won 1 game and lost 3.

They beat Pike County Central and lost to Ashland Blazer, West Creek, TN and Raceland.

The 2-4 Lady Cougars will play at Harlan Ind. this Thursday at 6:00pm and also at Shelby Valley Thursday at 7:15pm.

The 1-0 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers Volleyball team will take on Harlan Ind Tuesday at home starting at 6:00pm.


The next game for the 1-1 Letcher County Central Boys Soccer team and the 2-0 Letcher Central Girls Soccer team will be a doubleheader at home on Tuesday(tomorrow) against rival Perry County Central.  The girls play at 6:00pm and the guys at 8:00pm.


Tonight at Letcher County Central Football Field the Cougar football JV team will host Breathitt County at 6:00pm.  


Tonight on 103.9 The Bulldog it's the season debut of the Coach Mark Stoops Show starting at 6:00pm followed by Big Blue Weekly at 7:00pm.

The Football Cats will have their season and home opener against UT-Martin this Saturday August 30th.  Kickoff is 12:00 noon with pre-game starting at 10:30am.

The Reds lost to the Orioles in Baltimore Tuesday night 5-4.   TheY play again tonight in game 2 of this 3 game series.  Game time tonight is 7:05.  Pre-game begins at 6:35 on AM 920 WTCW.  The Reds are 9 games back of the NL Central leading St. Louis Cardinals.


The LCC Boys & Girls Soccer will have a doubleheader at home this Thursday against Prestonsburg.  The 3-1 Lady Cougars play at 6 and the 3-2 Cougar boys play at 8.


In volleyball, The 3-4 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play at Hazard Thursday with varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers Volleyball will have a home game against Pike County Central Thursday at 6:00pm.

Saturday, it's UK football week 2 as the Cats welcome in the Ohio Bobcats to Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.  Kickoff is 3:30.  Pre-game begins at 2pm Saturday on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The LCC Cougar Boys/Girls Soccer teams will be on the road for games at Powell County on Saturday.   The girls play at 11:00am and the boys play at 1:00pm.


Letcher County Central lost on the road at Paintsville on Thursday(8-21).   The Lady TIgers beat the Lady Cougars 3-1 with the scores of 25-17, 25-11, 25-27 and 25-20.

The Lady Cougars will play in the Champions of the Mountains Classic Saturday against several teams at Pikeville HS, Pike Central HS and at UPike.


Tonight and Saturday is opening weekend of high school football across the mountains and the state.
