The Letcher County Central Cougar Wrestling Team hosted the Ben Fisher Memorial on Saturday.

Kane Gibson, Owen Gibson and Dakota Green took 1st place, Dalton Gibson, Ethan Riley and Logan Fisher all placed 2nd and Tyler Daylong took home 3rd.

In Boys High School Basketball last night Central High School of Wise County, VA beat Jenkins 63-53.  

The  4-15 Cavaliers will take on Knott County Central at home in a district game on Thursday.  

Tip off is 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys are 14-10 and will be back in action tonight on the road against the 16-5 Hazard Bulldogs.  

JV begins at 6:00pm and Varsity tips off at 7:30pm.

Monday night in Girls High School Basketball Breathitt County beat Wolfe County 83-57, Harlan County over Middlesboro 71-47, Hazard got by Jackson City 48-44 and Knott County Central knocked off June Buchanan 68-50.

Last night's Letcher County Central Lady Cougars game against Owsley County was postponed due to the weather and will be rescheduled later.   

The 15-7 Lady Cougars will now take on Cordia Wednesday at home.  

Tip off is 7:30 and it will be Senior Night for Kelli Quillen.  

The Lady Cougars Freshmen team will play Leslie County at home on Wednesday at 6:00pm.  

The LCC girls play at Hazard on Thursday.

The 13-9 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will next play at South Floyd this Wedneday at 6:00pm.

It's UK Basketball tonight at the Wildcats are home to take on Ole Miss.

The First Annual Letcher County Archery Tournament was held at Fleming Neon on Saturday.

Elementary Division 3rd place went to West Whitesburg, 2nd place to Cowan, 1st place was Martha Jane Potter. Middle School 3rd place Cowan, 2nd place Letcher, 1st place Fleming Neon.

Top Shot Female Whitney Stamper LCC with a score of 287.

The State All A Tournament Champions were crowned on Sunday.  

In the girls tournament Glasgow beat Danville 53-43.  

Danville is coached by former Whitesburg Lady Yellowjacket assistant coach and Letcher County native Judie Mason.  

In the boys tournament 14th Region champion, the Cordia Lions, made it all the way to the championship game before losing to Newport Central Catholic 72-61.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys won 2 games over the weekend, both on the road.  

They beat Jenkins 83-46 Friday night and then beat Lee County 74-49 at Perry County Central in the Appalachian Wireless KY Prep Showcase on Saturday.

The 14-10 Cougars are back in action Tuesday at the Hazard Bulldogs.  

JV at 6 and Varsity at 7:30.  

The 4-14 Jenkins Cavalier Boys will next play at home tonight as they face Central HS out of Wise County with Tip Off at 6:00pm.

The Letcher Conty Central Lady Cougars and Jenkins Lady Cavaliers had a battle Friday night at Jenkins before the Lady Cougars won it 65-60.   

The 15-7 Lady Cougars will have Senior Night tonight at LCC as they face Owsley County.  

JV begins at 6 with Varsity at 7:30.  The Lady Cougars will honor their only Senior, Kelli Quillen.

Our Cougar Countdown Pre-Game show will begin at 7:00pm.  

The 13-9 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will play tonight at South Floyd with game time at 6:00pm.

The UK Wildcats are 16-5 and 6-2 in the SEC after beating Missouri on the road Saturday 84-79.   

The Cats will next play Ole Miss at home Tuesday night.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars 35 game home winning streak, dating back to January 18 of 2011 was snapped last night as they lost to Central High School from Wise County VA.   

The Lady Cougars trailed by as much as 11 in the 2nd half but made a comeback to get within 1 but ending up losing by 3 to the Lady Warriors.   

The final was 46-43.  

Reynolds had 16 for Central and LCC was led by Stidham and Meade with 11 each.

The Lady Cougars are now 14-7 and will be on the road to take on the 13-7 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers at 7:30 Friday night, part of a boys/girls district doubleader at Jenkins.  

The LCC girls and Cordia game scheduled that was scheduled for Friday was postponed and will be played later.  

The Lady Cavaliers from Jenkins will also play tonight at Pikeville with game time at 6:00pm.  

The 12-9 Letcher County Central Cougar boys continue their tough schedule of games as they welcome the 14-4 Perry County Central Commodores to LCC tonight.   

JV plays at 6:00 and varsity at 7:30.

Jenkins and LCC boys will tangle Friday night at Jenkins, part of the boys/ girls doubleheader.   

The boys game time is at 6:00pm.

The Girls All A State Tournament began yesterday in Frankfort.

All 3 mountain teams were in action:

Harlan from the 13th lost to University Heights 65-58 and 15th Region rep Paintsville got beat by Newport Central Catholic 56-26.   

14th Region winner the Leslie County Lady Eagles picked up a win in their opening round game beating Lexington Sayre 48-46.  

The Lady Eagles move to the quarterfinals now and will play Owensboro Catholic this Friday morning at 10:00am.  

The Boys All A State Tournament is also being played in Frankfort... 15th Region winner Betsy Layne takes on Glasgow today at 5:00pm, 13th Region champ Jackson County will take on Somerset at 6:30pm tonight and 14th Region winner Cordia will play Carroll County tonight at 8:00pm.   

Good Luck to all the mountain teams in the All A State Tournament.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys fought hard but came up short against 14th Region foe Perry County Central at home last night.  

The Cougars lost 66-58 and were only down by 1 halftime.  

LCC has lost 3 in a row with a record of 12-10.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Chippy Frazier with 19.  

Justin Johnson had 18 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Commodores.  

The Cougars will take on the 4-13 Cavaliers of Jenkins tonight at 6:00pm, part of a boys and girls district double header at Jenkins.   

They will then play Lee County tomorrow(Saturday) at Perry Central HS in the Appalachian Wireless KY Prep Showcase.  

The 14-7 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play in the boys/girls district doubleheader at Jenkins tonight.  

They will play the 13-8 Lady Cavaliers around 7:30.  

The Boys portion of the All A State Tournament got underway yesterday in Frankfort with all 3 mountain teams advancing to the quarterfinals.  

14th Region champions, the Cordia Lions, knocked off Carroll County 72-42.  

Betsy Layne from the 15th Region beat Glasgow 56-47 and 13th Region champ Jackson County got by Somerset 65-61.

Betsy Layne will play Jackson County in a 13th vs 15th matchup tonight at 8:00pm.  Cordia also plays tonight at 9:30 as they take on St. Mary.   

The Girls All A quarterfinal games will also be today and the only mountain team left, the Leslie County Lady Eagles will play Owensboro Catholic at 10:00am this morning.  

The All A state tournament boys and girls semi's are Saturday with both championship games on Sunday in Frankfort.

The UK Wildcats will play at Missouri tomorrow(Saturday).

Pre-Game on the Bulldog begins at 11:30am with tipoff at 1.

Last night at Letcher County Central High School, the Knott County Central Patriot boys achieved at least a tie for the 53rd district regular season title as they beat the LCC Cougars 64-35.   

The Patriots are now 15-4 and the Cougars fall to 12-9 overall and have lost back to back district games.  

Camron Justice had 24 to lead all scorers and Evan Hall added 15.  

The Cougars were led by Torell Carter with 10 points and 8 rebounds.  

Josh Owens also had 10.

The Cougars will next face the 14-4 Perry County Central Commodores Thursday at home in a 14th Region game.  

JV begins at 6 with varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavaliers lost a district game to Cordia at home last night 70-26.  

The Cavaliers continue district play as they take on Letcher County Central Friday at Jenkins.

The 14-6 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are back in action tonight at home as they welcome Central High School out of Wise County, VA, weather permitting.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are 13-7 overall now after losing to June Buchanan on the road Monday night 76-70.  

The Lady Cavaliers have lost 3 in a row and will play at Pikeville Thursday at 6:00pm.

LSU led wire to wire to upset the #11 Kentucky Wildcats 87-82 on Tuesday night.  

The Cats are now 15-5 overall and 5-2 in the SEC.  

They will play at Missouri this Saturday with Pre-Game on the Bulldog at 11:30am and tipoff at 1.
