Senior Torrell Carter had 30 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots to lead the Letcher County Central Cougar boys to a come from behind home 64-59 win over Hazard last night.  The Cougars were down by 8 going into the 4th quarter but got the win on senior night to pick up their 20th win against 8 losses.  The Cougars have won 8 of their last 9 games.  Senior basketball players Torrell Carter, Austin Banks and Austin Caudill along with senior cheerleaders, dance team and band members were honored.

The Cougar boys will wrap up the regular season tomorrow, Thursday, at home against Pike County Central.

The boys and girls 53rd District Tournaments begin this Monday at Knott County Central. 

The #13 UK Wildcats handled the Tennessee Volunteers 83-58 last night at Rupp Arena in Lexington.  The Cats were led by Malik Monk with 20 points an a career high 8 rebounds.  Derek Willis had 16 for the Cats with 5 players in double figures.  UK will be on the road this Saturday in their next game to play at Georgia.  Tipoff is at 6pm with pre-game starting at 4:30 here on the Bulldog.

Over the weekend, the Letcher County Central Cougar boys beat Union VA at home 83-67.  The LCC boys have won 7 of their last 8 games and 3 in a row to improve to 19-8 overall.  The Cougars will take on Hazard Tuesday night at home and it will be senior night.  They will wrap up the regular season Thursday at home against Pike County Central.  The 53rd district tournament begins Feb 20th at Knott County Central.
The Jenkins Cavalier boys lost at Shelby Valley Friday 79-36 and lost to Betsy Layne at home on Saturday in a close one 68-67.

The Cavalier boys will play at Riverside tonight and then wrap up the regular season with games against Red Bird at home Thursday and at Betsy Layne Friday.

In girls high school basketball over the weekend, The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars fell to Shelby Valley 35-26 at home.  The Lady Cougars have lost 3 of their last 4 and are 15-12 on the year. 

The Lady Cougars have 2 more games left in the regular season and both at home.  They will face Allen Central on Wednesday and Belfry on Friday.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers lost to Pikeville at home Friday 72-46 and won over Betsy Layne at home Saturday 53-50.  The Jenkins Girls will play at Perry County Central tonight and at Betsy Layne Saturday to wrap up the regular season. 

The girls 53rd district tournament begins Feb 20th at Knott County Central.

The Cats are 20-5 overall and 10-2 in the SEC.  They will host the Tennessee Volunteers tomorrow Tuesday night at Rupp Arena.  The Vols are 14-11 overall and 6-6 in the SEC.  They beat KY in Knoxville 82-80 on January 24th.  Tipoff Tuesday for the Cats and Tennessee will be at 7 with pre-game at 5:30 here on 103.9 The Bulldog.
