HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

In high school softball, Letcher County Central avenged a loss 4 days ago to Knott County County Central and ended a 4 game losing streak as the Lady Cougars beat Knott Central at Hindman Tuesday 9-6.  The 9-11 Lady Cougars will play a home district double header tonight against Cordia.  The first game begins at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are now 21-4 and have won 4 in a row after they knocked off the Harlan Lady Green Dragons 11-2 on the road Tuesday.  The Lady Cavaliers will play their 3rd game in 3 days today on the road against Shelby Valley.  First pitch is at 5:30pm.

In baseball, the Letcher County Central Cougars baseball team beat Harlan County 5-4 on Monday and played at Breathitt County last night but we don't have a final score.  The Cougars will next play this weekend, Friday and Saturday, in the Fayette County Invitational at various sites in Lexington.  They play East Jessamine on Friday night and take on Dunbar and Louisville Ballard on Saturday.

The Jenkins Cavaliers baseball will have their next game this Monday at home against Knott County Central at 5:30pm in a district game.

TRACK

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Track Teams will compete in the KHSAA Class 2A Region 7 Track Meet @ Leslie County High School this Saturday.

CHIPPY FRAZIER TO SIGN TODAY WITH UPIKE

Don't forget, Letcher County Central's Chippy Frazier will be signing scholarship papers to run Track at the University of Pikeville (UPike) this morning at 11:00am at Letcher County Central High School.

REDS BASEBALL VS. RED SOX

The Reds lost to the Boston Red Sox in interleague play last night 4-3.  The Reds are now 15-17 and 6 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central.  Game two of this short two game road trip against Boston will be tonight at 7:10.  Pre-game begins at 6:40pm on AM 920.   The Reds are off Thursday before returning home to play the Rockies for 3 this weekend.

Congratulations to Letcher County Central's Chippy Frazier.  He will be signing scholarship papers to run Track at the University of Pikeville (UPike).  He will sign this Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00am at Letcher County Central High School.

Also, congratulations to Brittany Wright (girls singles) and Dylan Caudill and Jordan Morrow (boys doubles) as they will playing in the KHSAA Boys and Girls State Tennis Tournament in Lexington, May 14 - 17.  

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers picked up their 20th win of the year as they beat Perry County Central at home on Monday to get a nice 14th Region win.  The final was Jenkins 3 Perry Central 2 in 8 innings.  The 20-4 Lady Cavaliers only have 5 remaining regular season games and will next play at Harlan County this afternoon at 6:00pm.

The 8-11 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are back in action this afternoon as they play on the road at Knott County Central in a district game.  First pitch is 6:00pm.
 
The Letcher County Central Cougars baseball team will play in Jackson against Breathitt County this afternoon at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Cavaliers baseball will play at Cordia tonight at 5:00pm in a district game.

After winning 3 of 4 games over the Brewers this weekend the Reds are in 3rd place, 6 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central.  They were off Monday and will resume play tonight with a short road trip to Boston to play the Red Sox at Fenway Park.  Game one of two will be tonight at 7:10pm.  Pregame begins at 6:40pm on AM 920.  They play again Wednesday night at 7:10.  The Reds are off Thursday before returning home to play the Rockies for 3 this weekend.

Senior Nick King pitched a 5 hit, 4 strikeout complete game shutout yesterday as the Letcher County Central Cougar baseball team beat the Harlan Green Dragons 10-0 at LCC.  The Cougar offense had 14 hits as they pick up the 8th win in a row to improve to 16-8 overall.  The Cougars have a double header tonight at home against Cordia at 5:30 and 7:30.   The 2006-2007 Region champion Cougar team will be honored between games.  We'll bring you game one of the double header live on the Bulldog with our pre-game starting at 5:15.  Tomorrow, Saturday, at Letcher County Central it's the 6th Annual Letcher County Kentucky Farm Bureau Classic with LCC playing Betsy Layne at 10:00am, Betsy Layne plays Perry Central at 1:30pm and the Cougars will play Perry Central in the 3rd and final game at 3:00pm.

The Jenkins Cavaliers next baseball game will be at East RIdge Saturday morning at 9:00am.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers improved to 19-4 overall and 6-0 in the district with a road win at Knott County Central 11-2 on Thursday.  Jenkins will next play Perry County Central at home Monday at 6:00pm.

The 8-9 LCC Lady Cougars are back in action tonight at home as they host  Knott County Central in a district game at 6:00pm.  LCC will then take on Powell County at home Saturday at 12 noon.

The LCC Girls Tennis Team will compete in singles and doubles matches today and the LCC Boys Tennis Team will compete in singles and doubles matches on Saturday in the 14th Region Tennis Tournaments both being held at Knott County Central.

The LCC Boys and Girls Track Team will compete with several teams in the Bell County All Comers Meet on Friday at 5:00pm at Bell County HS near Middlesboro.

The Reds won 8-3 last night at home in game 1 of 4 this weekend against the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers.   The Reds are now 6.5 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central.  Game times for the rest of this series will be tonight and Saturday night at 7:10 and 4:10 Sunday afternoon.  You can hear all Reds games on AM 920 WTCW.

The Letcher County Central Cougar baseball team won 3 of 4 games over weekend.   

On Friday the Cougars honored their coach, Bryan Dean, for picking up his 300th career win back on April 21st in a win over Knott County Central.

After honoring their coach, the Cougars then went out and won a district double header over Cordia Friday night, 10-0 in game one and 7-4 in game two.     

On Saturday in the Letcher County KY Farm Bureau Classic at LCC, the Cougars beat Betsy Layne 7-6 but lost to Perry Central 8-6.  The Perry Central loss ended an 11 game winning streak for LCC.  

The 19-9 Cougars will play at Harlan County this afternoon at 6:00pm in their next game.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars dropped 2 games over the weekend and have lost 4 in a row.  

They lost a district game Friday at home to Knott County Central 8-4 and lost 14-1 to Powell County at home on Saturday.

The Lady Cougars are 8-11 on the season and will play on the road at East Ridge this afternoon at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are 19-4 and will play Perry County Central at home this afternoon at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Track Teams both won 1st place at the Bell County All Comers Meet on Friday.   The last regular season meet for LCC Track will be held today at Harlan County and the Regional Track Meet will be this Saturday May 10th at Leslie County HS.

In girls high school softball Wednesday, in the pouring rain at Jenkins the Lady Cavaliers beat the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars 13-4.  Melissa Bartley hit an out of the park 2 RBI Home Run for the Lady Cavaliers who improve to 18-4 overall.  Jenkins next game is today in a district game at Knott County Central starting at 6:00pm.  The 8-9 LCC Lady Cougars will next play  Knott County Central Friday at home in a district game at 6:00pm.  LCC will take on Powell County at home Saturday at 12 noon.

The 15-8 Letcher County Central Cougars baseball team is back in action tonight at home against the Harlan Green Dragons.  Game time is 6:00pm this evening and we'll broadcast the LCC-Harlan game here on the Bulldog with Pre-game at 5:45.  The Cougars will then play a district doubleheader Friday at home against Cordia at 5:30pm and 7:30pm.  This Saturday at Letcher County Central it's the 6th Annual Letcher County Kentucky Farm Bureau Classic with LCC, Perry Central and Betsy Layne.

The Jenkins Cavaliers next baseball game will be at Betsy Layne this afternoon at 6:00pm.
