In soccer last night, the Letcher County Central Cougars Boys beat Jackson City 4-2 to improve to 2-1 overall.

The LCC Lady Cougars Soccer Team remains undefeated as they shutout Bell County on the road 10-0 last night.    

The LCC Boys and Girls Soccer Teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday at home against Prestonsburg.  

The boys play at 6:30pm and the girls play at 8:00pm.                                                 

Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball will be in action Thursday at home as they take on Johnson Central at 7:30pm for varsity.

Tonight at 6:30pm we'll talk LCC Cougar Football with Coach Mike Holcomb live from Pine Mountain Grill on the Coaches Show.

The 1-0 Football Cougars will stay home this Friday as they welcome McCreary Central for  a 7:30 kickoff at home in the first annual ARH Football Classic at LCC.  

We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog.  The Appalachian Wireless Cougar Countdown Pre-game Show begins at 6:45pm.

The 1-0 Jenkins Cavaliers and Coach Joe Colwell will face Allen Central in their home opener this Friday with kickoff set for 7:30pm.

The UK Wildcats will begin the Mark Stoops Era this Saturday August 31st as they will battle the Western KY Hilltoppers at LP Field in Nashville.

Kickoff is at 7:00pm.  Pregame will begin here on the Bulldog at 5:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougars & Lady Cougars Cross Country Team will compete@ Ashland today in the Fairview Early Season Meet at 6:00pm.

Letcher County Central and Jenkins Boys and Girls Golf Teams will take on Shelby Valley this afternoon at 4:30pm at Raven Rock Golf Course.  

Jenkins golfer Lexi Stambaugh competed Saturday in the All A Region Golf Tournament and won, she will complete at the All A Classic State Tournament on September 7 at Burnside, Ky

It's almost high school football time in the mountains!


The Letcher County Central Cougars and new Coach Mike Holcomb begin the 2013 campaign this Friday August 23rd. 

The Cougars open at home vs. Berea in the Sports R Us Bowl at LCC Field.  Gametime is 8:00pm. 

The Appalachian Wireless Cougar Countdown Pre-game Show begins at 7:15p with Kevin Day and Derek Barto.


We will also bring you the Coach Mike Holcomb Show every Wednesday during the season Live at Pine Mountain Grill. 

The first show will be this Wednesday August 21 at 6:30pm.

The Jenkins Cavaliers have a new Coach also, Joe Colwell.

The Cavaliers will open the season on the road at Phelps this Friday August 23rd at 7:30pm.

The UK Wildcats Football season under new Coach Mark Stoops will be here on Saturday August 31st at LP Field in Nashville as they take on Bobby Petrino and the Western KY Hilltoppers.

The first Coach Mark Stoops Show of the Year will be Monday August 26th at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar football team had 413 yards of total offense and a great team defensive effort to get a 47-0 shutout win over the Berea Pirates in the season opener on Friday night.  

The Cougars showed a nice mix of run and pass on offense to get Mike Holcomb his first win as Cougar head coach.  

Jaylyn Williams had 4 TD's, including a punt return for a touchdown and 2 in the air, one was the highlight of the game, featuring a spectacular one handed grab that went for a 75 yard score.

Junior QB Zane Blair was 9 of 15 through the air for 256 and 3 TD's, two to Jaylyn Williams and another strike of 64 yards to Devin Wright.   

The Cougars led 14-0 after the 1st quarter and 28-0 at halftime.   

The 1-0 Cougars will stay home this Friday as they welcome McCreary Central for  a 7:30 kickoff at LCC.

In soccer, the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys are 1-1 after getting a nice 1-0 shutout victory at South Laurel on Saturday.

They next play on the road at Jackson City Tuesday at 7:30pm.

The LCC Lady Cougar Girls soccer team is 2-0 and will face Bell County on the road in their next game Tuesday at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Volleyball team is now 3-3 on the year after winning 2 and losing 3 over the weekend in the Champions of the Mountains Classic at Pikeville.

The beat Paintsville and Corbin but lost to Pikeville, Rowan County and Hazard.

The Lady Cougar Volleyball team will take on Betsy Layne in their next match at home Tuesday at 7:30pm.

Matt Kenseth held off Kasey Khane to win the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway Saturday night.

Kyle Busch won the Truck  and Nationwide Races this weekend at BMS.

The Reds lost 2 of 3 games over the weekend in a home series against the Milwaukee Brewers including a 3-1 loss on Sunday afternoon.  

The Reds remain 2.5 games behind Pittsburgh and St. Louis.   The Cardinals and Pirates are now tied for the lead in the NL Central.

The Reds hit the road for a 2 city 6 game road swing including 3 games against the Cardinals in St. Louis to start the week,  a day off on Thursday and then 3 against the Rockies this upcoming weekend.

Game one for the Reds and Cardinals is tonight and first pitch is set for 7:05pm.  Pre-game on WTCW-AM 920 will be at 6:35pm.

The Cincinnati Reds took 2 out of 3 games from the Milwaukee Brewers at Great American Ballpark this weekend.


They won 4-3 on Friday, got shutout 6-0 on Saturday but won 5-1 on Father's Day Sunday.

The Reds are 2.5 games behind the Cardinals in the NL Central at 42-28.

They begin a 4 game series tonight against the Pirates at home. 

Game time is 7:10 with pregame at 6:40 on AM 920 WTCW, Your All Sports Station in the Mountains
