In high school football week 4,  the Pike County Central Hawks outscored the Letcher County Central Cougars 20-7 in the 2nd half to get the 34-21 victory over LCC.   

The Cougars fall to 2-2 with the loss and will now be back at Cougar Field this Friday night to take on the Sheldon Clark Cardinals, who come in winless at 0-3.

The Jenkins Cavaliers return to action Friday night and lost to Clinton County at home 46-6.  The Cavaliers are now 1-2 and will be on the road at South Floyd this Friday night at 7:30.

In other games Friday:
Belfry beat Southwesten 38-27
Harlan County gives Knox Central its first loss, winning big 48-13.
Hazard over Somerset in a good one 32-28
Johnson Central beat Perry Central 53-7
Lawrence County over Breathitt County 48-26
Knott County Central is 2-1 as they beat South Floyd 48-26
Paintsville beat Shelby Valley 44-38 in OT.
Middlesboro over Bell County 28-14 in a game that started Friday night and finished on Saturday due to a power failure.
Whitley County lost to Rockcastle County 28-9.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars Soccer Team has won 3 in a row after shutting out North Laurel 2-0 on Saturday at home.  They are now 7-2 overall and will face Hazard next on the road this Thursday at 6:00pm, part of a boys/girls doubleheader.  

The Cougar Boys Soccer Team is also 7-2 and will play at Perry County Central this Tuesday at 7:00pm and then at Hazard at 7:30pm Thursday.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team will next play Harlan at home tonight at 6:00pm and at Johnson Central Thursday at 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams ran in the Southern Harrier Invitational at Somerset in Pulaski County on Saturday.

The Cougars ran against a field of 12 teams including three state ranked teams in Pulaski County, Wayne County, and DeSales.

Boys Varsity placed third behind Pulaski and Wayne County defeating DeSales and Harlan County.  The team was led by Trevor Wayne and Dylan Burton both young men receiving Medals.

Senior Leanna Bryant and Sophomore Alley Dameron both medaled in the Girls Varsity race.

Freshmen Grayson Collier won the JV Race and the JV boys placed 2nd behind Harlan County and were led by Freshmen Skyler Yonts.

The Letcher County Central Cougar JV Football team will play Perry County Central tonight at 6:00pm at home.

Tonight on 103.9 The Bulldog at 6:00pm, it's the Coach Mark Stoops Show, followed by Big Blue Sports Weekly with Dick Gabriel.

The Cats lost to Louisville on Saturday 27-13 and will have an off week this Saturday.   They will resume play on September 28th against Florida.

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Soccer are back in action tonight with a doubleheader at home against Perry County Central.

The girls with 5 wins and 2 losses will play at 6:00pm this evening followed by the 6-2 boys around 7:30pm.

Perry Central boys have a record of 5-1-1 and the girls are 4-3

The next game for Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball tonight as they take on Prestonsburg at home.

Game time is 7:30pm.

This Saturday is the 53rd District Seeding Tournament for Volleyball.

It will be played at Knott County Central HS in Hindman with the LCC Lady Cougars, Knott County Central, Jenkins and June Buchanan playing.  

The matches begin Saturday morning at 10:00am.

This Saturday the LCC boys and girls cross country teams will take part in the Southern Harrier Invitational at GE Field in Somerset starting at 10:00am.

Kickoff will be at 7:30pm with the pre-game show starting at 6:45pm here on the Bulldog.

The 1-1 Jenkins Cavaliers are back in action this week after a week off.

The 2-1 Clinton County Bulldogs will come to Jenkins to play the Cavaliers.

Kickoff is set for 8:00pm.

It's the Governor's Cup Game this Saturday as the 1-1 UK Wildcats will face the Louisville Cardinals at Commonwealth Stadium.   

Kickoff is at 12noon.   Pre-game begins at 10:30am Saturday here on the Bulldog.

Letcher County Central boys Soccer won 11-1 over Buckhorn at home last night to improve their record to 5-2.

LCC Soccer will next play in a boys/girls doubleheader tonight at home against Hazard.

The boys play at 7:00pm and the girls at 8:00pm.

They will also play Perry County Central in a boys/girls doubleheader Thursday at 6:00 and 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Cross Country team ran at Harlan Co. last Tues. and the Boys and Girls team placed first beating Harlan County, Bell County and Whitley County.

The Girls Varsity team was lead by Senior Leanna Bryant

The Boys Varsity team was lead by Junior Trevor Wayne

Nick Spangler won the Middle School Race

Bailey Kincer won the Elementary Girls Race

The LCC boys and girls Cross Country will compete this afternoon in the Bell County All-Comers meet at Bell County High School.  

The meet starts at 5:00pm.

They will also compete this Saturday in the Southern Harrier Invitational at Somerset.

Letcher County Central Volleyball won 3-0 over Harlan yesterday on the road.

The score was 25-12, 25-6 and 25-15.

The 4-7 Lady Cougars will play at Perry County Central tonight at 7:00pm.

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Soccer recorded shutout victories over Hazard in a  doubleheader last night at LCC.

The boys won 10-0 and the girls won 7-0.

They both will next play Perry County Central in a boys/girls doubleheader at home tomorrow, Thursday.

The girls play at 6:00 followed by the boys around 7:30pm.

In week 3 of high school football,  the Letcher County Central Cougars Football team played on the road for the first time this season and lost to the Hazard Bulldogs 26-21.

The Cougars led 21-20 at halftime.

The 2-1 Cougars will hit the road again this week as they play at the 0-2 Pike County Central Hawks on Friday night.   

Kickoff will be at 7:30pm with the Pre-game Show starting at 6:45pm here on the Bulldog.  

The Cougar JV team play tonight at Leslie County.  Game time is 6:00pm.

The 1-1 Jenkins Cavaliers had the weekend off with the open week.  

They will resume play this Friday as they stay home to welcome Clinton County.  

Kickoff is set for 8:00pm.

In other mountain games over the weekend:

Belfry beat Harlan County game in the game of the week at Harlan County 21-12.

Bell County held off Whitley County 21-14

Perry Central lost to Tates Creek 35-14

and Knott County Central beat Phelps 44-22

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Soccer both lost at Estill County on Saturday.

The boys ended their 4 game win streak with a 4-0 loss and the girls lost their 2nd in a row 5-2.

The LCC boys soccer will play Buckhorn at home tonight at 7:00pm.

The LCC girls soccer will next play Tuesday at home against Hazard, part of a boys and girls doubleheader.

The UK Wildcats won their home opener on Saturday beating Miami, Oh 41-7.  

The 1-1 Cats will face Louisville this Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium.   Kickoff is at 12noon.
