After starting at 3-7 on the year, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team has reeled off 9 straight wins to improve to 12-7.  

They beat Johnson Central last night in Paintsville 3-0.

 
The scoring was 25-22, 25-22 and 25-19.

The Lady Cougar Volleyball Team will next play Louisville Iriqous and some other teams on Saturday at Bath County High School in the Citizen's Bank Volleyball Throwdown.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Soccer teams got a doubleheader win at Hazard last night.

The Cougar Girls shutout the Bulldogs 5-0 for their fourth win in a row and 8-2 overall.

They will next play in Louisa against Lawrence County tomorrow, Saturday, at 2:00pm.

The LCC Boys Soccer Team beat Hazard 6-2 and now sit at 8-3 overall.

The Cougar Boys will stay home this weekend as they play Corbin at LCC, tomorrow, Saturday at 5:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Cross Country boys and girls will compete in a meet hosted by Franklin County at the Kentucky Horse Park at Georgetown, tomorrow, Saturday starting at 9am.

It's high school football homecoming tonight at Letcher County Central.
The 2-2 Cougars will be at Cougar Field tonight to take on the 0-3 Sheldon Clark Cardinals.
Kickoff is at 7:30pm.
The Cougar Countdown Pregame Show begins at 6:45pm here on 103.9 The Bulldog.
The Homecoming Ceremonies will be held before the game starting at 6:45pm.

The 1-2 Jenkins Cavaliers are back on the road this Friday at Hi Hat to take on the South Floyd Raiders.  
Kick off is at 7:30pm.
Other big games in the mountains for week 5 this Friday will be:
Pikeville at Belfry
Perry County Central at Breathitt County
Hazard at Fairview
and Harlan County at Johnson Central

The UK Wildcats have the weekend off and the 1-2 Cats will take on the Florida Gators in Lexington next Saturday September 28th.

We will have the coach Mark Stoops Show this Monday at 6:00pm.

Letcher County Central Cross Country had first home meet of the year on Tuesday.   
It was a dual meet against Knott County Central.   
The LCC Boys and Girls received a perfect score of 15.
The boys were lead by Trevor Wayne and  senior Dylan Burton.
The girls were lead by Senior Leanna Bryant and sophomore Ally Dameron.
Also Bailey Kincer placed 1st in the Middle school division.
The LCC Cross Country boys and girls will compete in a meet hosted by Franklin County at the Kentucky Horse Park at Georgetown this Saturday morning at 9am.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team has now won 8 games in a row including 1st place at the 53rd District Seeding Tournament over the weekend at Knott County Central beating Jenkins, June Buchanan and Knott County Central.  

They also beat Harlan Independent last night at home 3-0.   

The final scores were 25-7,2507 and 25-9.

The Lady Cougars are 11-7 and will next play at Johnson Central Thursday at 7:30pm.

The 7-2 Letcher County Central Cougar Boys Soccer Team will play a district game at Perry County Central tonight at 7:00pm and then at Hazard at 7:30pm Thursday.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars Soccer Team , also 7-2 will face Hazard next on the road this Thursday at 6:00pm, part of a boys/girls doubleheader.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams will host the LCC Dual Meet today at 5:00pm.

Several area teams will be at LCC to compete.

Letcher County Central and Jenkins Golf Teams will play each other along with Pikeville and Shelby Valley this afternoon at 4:30pm at Raven Rock Golf Course in Jenkins.

This is week 5 of high school football already and the 2-2 Letcher County Central Cougars will try to rebound from back to back road losses as they return home this week to take on 0-3 Sheldon Clark at Cougar Field on Friday night.

Perry County Central beat Letcher County Central in Boys Soccer last night at PCC.  The final was 2-1.  

Both Perry County Central and Letcher County Central are 3-1 in the district, having beaten each other once.

The Cougars are 7-3 overall and will be back in action on the road against the Hazard Bulldogs at 7:30pm Thursday, part of a boys/girls doubleheader.

The 7-2 LCC Lady Cougars Soccer Team will play the first game of the doubleheader at Hazard Thursday at 6:00pm.

In high school football week 4,  the Pike County Central Hawks outscored the Letcher County Central Cougars 20-7 in the 2nd half to get the 34-21 victory over LCC.   

The Cougars fall to 2-2 with the loss and will now be back at Cougar Field this Friday night to take on the Sheldon Clark Cardinals, who come in winless at 0-3.

The Jenkins Cavaliers return to action Friday night and lost to Clinton County at home 46-6.  The Cavaliers are now 1-2 and will be on the road at South Floyd this Friday night at 7:30.

In other games Friday:
Belfry beat Southwesten 38-27
Harlan County gives Knox Central its first loss, winning big 48-13.
Hazard over Somerset in a good one 32-28
Johnson Central beat Perry Central 53-7
Lawrence County over Breathitt County 48-26
Knott County Central is 2-1 as they beat South Floyd 48-26
Paintsville beat Shelby Valley 44-38 in OT.
Middlesboro over Bell County 28-14 in a game that started Friday night and finished on Saturday due to a power failure.
Whitley County lost to Rockcastle County 28-9.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars Soccer Team has won 3 in a row after shutting out North Laurel 2-0 on Saturday at home.  They are now 7-2 overall and will face Hazard next on the road this Thursday at 6:00pm, part of a boys/girls doubleheader.  

The Cougar Boys Soccer Team is also 7-2 and will play at Perry County Central this Tuesday at 7:00pm and then at Hazard at 7:30pm Thursday.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams ran in the Southern Harrier Invitational at Somerset in Pulaski County on Saturday.

The Cougars ran against a field of 12 teams including three state ranked teams in Pulaski County, Wayne County, and DeSales.

Boys Varsity placed third behind Pulaski and Wayne County defeating DeSales and Harlan County.  The team was led by Trevor Wayne and Dylan Burton both young men receiving Medals.

Senior Leanna Bryant and Sophomore Alley Dameron both medaled in the Girls Varsity race.

Freshmen Grayson Collier won the JV Race and the JV boys placed 2nd behind Harlan County and were led by Freshmen Skyler Yonts.

The Letcher County Central Cougar JV Football team will play Perry County Central tonight at 6:00pm at home.

Tonight on 103.9 The Bulldog at 6:00pm, it's the Coach Mark Stoops Show, followed by Big Blue Sports Weekly with Dick Gabriel.

The Cats lost to Louisville on Saturday 27-13 and will have an off week this Saturday.   They will resume play on September 28th against Florida.
