It's high school football week #7 and 3 mountain teams began the week early by playing on Thursday night:

Class A Fairview is now 6-0 after beating Pike County Central last night 44-37.

It was Breathitt County over Magoffin County in a shootout 55-49 and Betsy Layne gets back on the winning track and blasts South Floyd 50-12.

The 3-3 LCC Cougar varsity football team does not play tonight as they have an open date and will next play at Harlan County on Friday October 11th when they begin district play.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will take on Knott County Central at home tonight with kickoff at 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central boys soccer lost to Whitley County 3-0 last night at home.  

The Cougars are 11-5 and will next play at Middlesboro this Monday.

The LCC girls soccer will next play at Paintsville this Tuesday October 8th at 6:00pm.

The LCC Cross Country boys and girls will compete in the Chuck Vitatoe Invitational at Harlan County this Saturday morning at 9:30am.

Congratulations to Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Golfer, VICTORIA BATES, as she was KHSAA REGION 10 RUNNER-UP.

Victoria shot an 88 as she finished second out of 48 girls.  

 She will be representing Letcher County Central at the KHSAA Girls State Championship Competition next week in Bowling Green.

Congrats to all the golfers and coaches Matt Kettler, Bobbi Whitaker and Willis Ring.

The Letcher County Central Cross Country teams competed in the Pikeville All-Comers Meet on Monday at Bob Amos Park in Pikeville.

There were 98 runners and several schools there.  LCC boys and girls both won 1st place overall.

Chase Cates placed 1st for the boys and Leanna Bryant palced 1st for the girls.

The elementary division winner was Bailey Kincer.

The 9-4 Letcher County Central Cougar boys soccer team and the 8-3 Lady Cougars soccer team are both back in action tonight with a boys/girls doubleheader at Shelby Valley.

The boys play at 6:00pm and the girls at 8:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team is also back in action tonight when they battle Betsy Layne on the road at 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars golf team is competing in KHSAA Regional Golf Tournament at Raven Rock Golf Course in Jenkins this morning starting at 9:00am.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Football JV team got a nice win over Breathitt County on Mike Holcomb Field at Jackson last night.  The final was 34-20.

The LCC Lady Cougars soccer team also played Shelby Valley last night as part of a double header but we don't have a score.

The boys play Whitley County at home Thursday at 6:00pm in their next game.

In high school football, the Letcher County Central Cougars lost to Somerset 42-7 at Cougar Field on Friday night.  It was the first home loss of the season for LCC and their record falls to an even 3-3 overall.  

The Cougars are off this Friday and will begin district play at Harlan County on Friday October 11th.

The Jenkins Cavaliers are now 1-4 after losing to Jackson County at home on Friday.  38-22 was the final.  

Jenkins will take on Knott County Central at home Friday night with kickoff at 7:30pm.

The 8-3 Lady Cougars Soccer team will next play at Shelby Valley Tuesday, part of a boys/girls doubleheader with the LCC Boys.
