The Letcher County Middle School Football Cougars (7th and 8th graders) have made the state playoffs. 

They will play the Pikeville Panthers at the LCC MS Cougar Field(old Whitesburg football field) this Saturday October 12th at 12 noon. 

The entire community is invited.

The 15-12 Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team lost to 27-5 Pikeville at home last night 3-0.  

The scores were 25-18, 25-19 and 25-15.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action against the Hazard Lady Bulldogs Thursday at home.  

Game time is 7:30pm.

This weekend the Lady Cougars will host the East/West Throwdown at LCC featuring several teams playing all day starting at 10:00am.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys and girls soccer teams played Paintsville on the road last night and both lost.

The boys lost 4-1 and the girls lost 2-1.

The 11-6 Cougars and 9-4 Lady Cougars will wrap up the regular season with a home doubleheader against Shelby Valley this Thursday.

The boys play at 6:00pm and the girls around 8:00pm.

LCC Lady Cougar Golfer and Region 10 Runner Up, Victoria Bates, will compete later this week in the KHSAA Girls State Golf Tournament in Bowling Green.

She will have a practice round on Thursday and will compete Friday and Saturday.

The 3-3 Letcher County Central football Cougars are back in action this Friday after having last Friday off.   

The Cougars will begin district play this week in a big way as they play at Harlan County.

Kickoff for the Cougars and Black Bears in the Friends of Coal Bowl is at 7:30pm with pregame on the Bulldog starting at 6:45pm.

We'll also bring you the Cougar Coaches Show tonight at 6:30pm live from Pine Mountain Grill.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will begin district play this Friday when they play at Pineville.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm.

The UK Wildcats are back home this Saturday to welcome the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide.  

Kickoff is at 7:00pm with pregame at 5:30pm here on the Bulldog.

Letcher County Central Cougar and Lady Cougar soccer teams will play at Paintsville this evening in a boys/girls doubleheader.  

The girls play at 6:00pm with the boys to follow around 8:00pm.

Game time is 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Chuck Vitatoe Invitational at Harlan County on Saturday.

The LCC girls won their overall division beating Harlan Co, by 1 point.

The LCC boys also won their overall division.

The  girls were  lead  by Sophomore Alley Dameron and the boys  by Senior Chase Cates.

Bailey Kincer was the elementary division winner.

LCC boys and girls Cross Country will host the Cougar Climb Invitational today starting at 5:00pm at LCC.

It's high school football week #7 and 3 mountain teams began the week early by playing on Thursday night:

Class A Fairview is now 6-0 after beating Pike County Central last night 44-37.

It was Breathitt County over Magoffin County in a shootout 55-49 and Betsy Layne gets back on the winning track and blasts South Floyd 50-12.

The 3-3 LCC Cougar varsity football team does not play tonight as they have an open date and will next play at Harlan County on Friday October 11th when they begin district play.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will take on Knott County Central at home tonight with kickoff at 7:30pm.

In soccer, the Letcher County Central Cougar boys are 11-5 and the LCC girls soccer team is 9-3.

They will play at Paintsville tomorrow(Tuesday) in a boys/girls doubleheader.

Congratulations to Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Golfer, VICTORIA BATES, as she was KHSAA REGION 10 RUNNER-UP.

Victoria shot an 88 as she finished second out of 48 girls.  

 She will be representing Letcher County Central at the KHSAA Girls State Championship Competition next week in Bowling Green.

Congrats to all the golfers and coaches Matt Kettler, Bobbi Whitaker and Willis Ring.
