The Letcher County Central Cougar boys and girls soccer teams both wrapped up the regular season with wins on Thursday night.

The boys team finished at 12-6 after shutting out Shelby Valley 6-0.

The girls team ends up with a 10-4 record after a 5-0 shutout win.

32nd District Tournament play begins next week for both teams.

The boys tournament begins Monday at Letcher County Central with 2 games.

Game 1 will be Letcher County Central and Buckhorn at 6:00pm, followed by Perry County Central against Hazard at 8:00pm.

The championship game will be Tuesday at 8:00pm at LCC.

The girls district tournament will begin Tuesday also at Letcher Central.

Hazard and Perry County Central will play at 7:00pm.   

The winner will play Letcher County Central Wednesday at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team lost to Hazard at home last night 3-1.  The scores were (25-21, 25-17, 11-25, 27-25)

Tomorrow(Saturday) the Lady Cougars Volleyball team will host the East/West Throwdown at LCC featuring several teams playing all day starting at 10:00am.

The Letcher County Middle School Football Cougars (7th and 8th graders) have made the state playoffs.

The 8-2 Cougars will play the Pikeville Panthers in the first round at the LCC Middle School Cougar Field(old Whitesburg football field) this Saturday  at 12 noon.

LCC Lady Cougar Golfer and Region 10 Runner Up, Victoria Bates, will begin play today in the KHSAA Girls State Golf Tournament in Bowling Green.

In week 8 of high school football, the 3-3 Letcher County Central Cougars will begin district play tonight at Harlan County.

Kickoff for the Cougars and Black Bears in the Friends of Coal Bowl is at 7:30pm with pregame on the Bulldog starting at 6:45pm.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will begin district play tonight as well when they play at Pineville.

Kickoff for Jenkins and Pineville is at 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Middle School Football Cougars (7th and 8th graders) have made the state playoffs.

The 8-2 Cougars will play the Pikeville Panthers in the first round at the LCC Middle School Cougar Field(old Whitesburg football field) this Saturday October 12th at 12 noon.

The 15-12 Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team will take on the Hazard Lady Bulldogs tonight at home.  

Game time is 7:30pm.

Letcher County Central Cougar and Lady Cougar soccer teams will play at Paintsville this evening in a boys/girls doubleheader.  

The girls play at 6:00pm with the boys to follow around 8:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Chuck Vitatoe Invitational at Harlan County on Saturday.

The LCC girls won their overall division beating Harlan Co, by 1 point.

The LCC boys also won their overall division.

The  girls were  lead  by Sophomore Alley Dameron and the boys  by Senior Chase Cates.

Bailey Kincer was the elementary division winner.

LCC boys and girls Cross Country will host the Cougar Climb Invitational today starting at 5:00pm at LCC.

Several mountain teams, including Letcher County Central,  had the week off in high school football.  The 3-3 LCC Cougars will play at Harlan County this Friday October 11th when they begin class 5A district play.

Jenkins will begin district play in Class A this Friday when they play at Pineville.

In soccer, the Letcher County Central Cougar boys are 11-5 and the LCC girls soccer team is 9-3.

They will play at Paintsville tomorrow(Tuesday) in a boys/girls doubleheader.
