The 2013 Girls LCEAA Middle School A Team County Basketball Tournament gets underway on Thursday.

The two games on Thursday at Letcher Middle School Gym will be at 6:00pm Fleming Neon against Cowan then Letcher takes on Whitesburg at 7:30pm.

The Consolation and Championship game will be Sunday at Letcher County Central High School Gym.

The consolation game will be at 2:00pm with the championship game at 3:30pm.

Good luck to all 4 girls county teams.

The girls 14th Region Soccer Tournament began last night at Letcher County Central.

In the only game Estill County beat Perry County Central 3-1.

Estill County now moves on to face the 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars in the 14th Region Girls Soccer Championship Game Thursday at 6:00pm at Letcher County Central.  

The Lady Cougars received a bye to the championship game.

Estill County will play Perry County Central in the Boys Soccer 14th Region Championship Game Thursday at 8:00pm also at Letcher County Central.

The 53rd District Volleyball Tournament Championship Game will be played this evening at 6:00pm at Knott County Central High School in Hindman.

The LCC Lady Cougars will play the winner of the Jenkins-Knott County Central game at 6:00pm.

The 4-4 Letcher County Central Cougar Football team will be back in action against the 0-8 Whitley County Colonels on the road this Friday in the final district game.  

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm from Williamsburg.   

We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog with pregame starting at 6:45pm.

With a win on Friday the Cougars would see their first home playoff game since 2009.

The UK Wildcats will have a special Thursday night game this week as they take on Mississippi State on the road in Starkville.  

Kickoff is at 7:30pm Thursday with pregame at 6:00pm here on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The 2013 season has ended for the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys Soccer team.

They lost 5-0 to Estill County last night in the 14th Region Tournament at Letcher County Central.

Congrats to Coach Joe Roberts and the Cougar Boys Soccer team.

They finish the season at 13-8.

The other game last night had Perry Central shutting out Jackson City 6-0.

Estill County will now play Perry County Central for the 14th Region Championship Thursday at 8:00pm at Letcher County Central.

The winner of tonight's game will face the 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars in the 14th Region Championship Thursday at 6:00pm at Letcher County Central.

The Letcher County Central Boys & Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Area 9 Championship Meet Saturday at Harlan County.

Bailey Kincer won the Elementary Race.

Nick Spangler was Runner-up in the Middle School Race.

Kacey Troutt won the Girls JV Race and Blake Watts won the Boys JV Race.

The Varsity Girls placed 2nd behind Harlan Co, and received a Runner-up Trophy.

The Lady Cougars were lead by Seniors Leanna Bryant and Keshia Balthis.

The Boys Team won 1st place overall and received a First place Trophy. The Cougars have been Area 9 Champions 6 years in a row.

The Boys Varsity team was lead by Senior Chase Cates and Junior Trevor Wayne.

The Cougars placed 5 boys in the top ten, Chase Cates and Trevor Wayne led the entire race placing First and Second overall.

The Top Ten in each race received medals.

The 53rd District Volleyball Tournament begins tonight at Knott County Central Gym in Hindman.

Two games will be played this evening.

At 6:00pm the #1 seed Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will take on June Buchanan and around 7:00pm Knott County Central will face Jenkins.  

The Volleyball 53rd District championship game will be Wednesday at 6:00pm also at Knott County Central.

It's high school football week #9 and there was one mountain game played last night.

Pikeville beat Phelps in a district game 50-7.

Tonight at Cougar Field, the 3-4 Letcher County Central Cougars varsity football team will continue district play with a home game against 4-3 Perry County Central.  

The Cougars are 0-1 in district after losing to Harlan County and Perry Central is 1-0 after knocking off Whitley County last Friday.

Kickoff for the Cougars and Commodores Friday night is set for 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavaliers are on the road at Hazard tonight in a district game with kickoff at 7:30pm.

After being down 12-7 at halftime, the Letcher County Central Cougar Football team went on a 15-0 run in the 3rd quarter to get a huge district win over Perry County Central Friday night at Cougar Field.  

The final score was LCC 22 Perry Central 18.  

With the win the Cougars could see their first home playoff game since 2009.  

If the Cougars beat Whitley County on the road this Friday, they will secure 2nd place in the district standings and a home playoff game.  

In the Perry Central game Friday the Cougars showed a stingy 2nd half defense and effective running game to get the win.

Hunter Hall had 2 TD's and Zane Blair had the other, all 3 on the ground.

The Cougars are now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the district.

The Cougars will next face the winless Whitley County on the road this Friday in the final district game.  Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

In the other district game Friday night Harlan County blasted Whitley County 51-6.

The 2013 14th Region Boys and Girls Soccer Tournaments will begin this week and both will be played at Letcher County Central.

The 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will get a bye in the first round of the Region and will face the winner of Estill County and Perry County Central this Thursday October 24th at 6:00pm for the Region Championship.

Estill County and Perry County Central will play Tuesday at 7:00pm at LCC.

The Boys 14th Region Tournament begins tonight at LCC.

Game one at 6:00pm will be Estill County against Letcher County Central and game two around 8:00pm will be Perry County Central taking on Jackson City.

The two winners will meet for the Boys Region championship game also on Thursday at 8:00pm at LCC.

Congratulations to Lady Cougars Meg Raleigh, Brooke Kincer, Brooke Adams and Courtney Wilson as they were named to the Girls Soccer District All Tournament Team and to Brittany Buttrey as she was selected as the Most Valuable Player.

Also congratulations to Jordan Morrow, Antonio Acevedo and Dustin Holbrook as they were named to the Boys Soccer District All Tournament Team.

The Boys and Girls 53rd District Soccer Tournament championship games were played last night at Hazard.

Congratulations to the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars...they are 53rd district champions for 2013 after shutting out Perry County Central 4-0.

The 11-4 Lady Cougars have won 6 consecutive district championships.

Congrats to Coach Betty Acevedo, her staff and the Lady Cougars!

Both teams now move on the Region Tournament.

Letcher County Central Cougar Boys Soccer came up short in their bid for a district championship last night, losing a close one, 1-0, to Perry County Central.

The Cougars are now 13-7 overall and both teams move on to Region.

Tonight is Senior night and the final game of the regular season for the Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team.

They will play Lee County at home tonight with game time at 6:00pm  for JV and 7:30pm for Varsity.

Friday night at Cougar Field, the 3-4 Letcher County Central Cougars varsity football team will continue district play with a home game against 4-3 Perry County Central.
