The 14th Region Volleyball Tournament semi-finals were played at Powell County High School in Stanton last night and the season has ended for the 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars.  

LCC lost to the Hazard Lady Bulldogs in 5 sets last night.  

The Lady Cougars had won the 14th Region Tournament all 8 years that LCC has existed.

Great season!  Big congrats to the LCC Lady Cougar Volleyball team and the Coaching staff.


Hazard now moves on to play Leslie County in tonight's championship game.   Leslie County beat Jackson City in the other semi-final game.

Tonight's championship game begins at 7:00pm at Powell County High School.

The Letcher County Central Cougar football team will wrap up the regular season with Breathitt County at home this Friday.  

It will also be senior night for LCC football and an emotional night for LCC Coach Mike Holcomb as he welcomes his former school and former players to Cougar Field.  .

Kick off is set for 7:30pm.  We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog with Pre Game at 6:45pm.

Senior Night activities for the 14 young men will begin around 6:30pm Friday night.

The Letcher County Central Cross Country Boys and Girls will compete in the KHSAA Class 2A Region 7 Cross Country Meet at Fairview High School in Ashland this Saturday.  

The Lady Cougars will run at 12:00 noon and the Cougar Boys will run at 12:40pm.

The UK Football Cats will have homecoming this Saturday as they take on Alabama State at Commonwealth Stadium.  

Kickoff is 7:30 with pre game at 6:00pm on the Bulldog.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Soccer Team lost to Lawrence County 5-2 last night at LCC in the opening round of the KHSAA Girls Soccer State Tournament.

The loss ends the Lady Cougars season at 12-5.

Congratulations to the coaching staff and players for an exciting and fantastic 2013 season.

The 14th Region Volleyball Tournament continued at Powell County High School in Stanton last night.

53rd District Champion, the Letcher County Central Cougars beat Owsley County 3-0, winning 25-16, 25-11 and 25-9.

Also last night Hazard beat Wolfe County 3-0.

The Semi-finals are now set and will be played tonight at Powell County.

In game one at 6:00pm Jackson City takes on Leslie County.

Game two, around 7:30pm, will be Letcher County Central and Hazard.

The championship game will be played Thursday at 7:00pm.

Congratulations to the Letcher Middle School Lady Eagles!

They won the LCEAA GIrls A Team County Basketball Championship at Letcher County Central HS on Sunday afternoon beating Fleming Neon Middle School.

The Lady Pirates took the runner up spot.

Congrats to all teams Letcher, Fleming Neon, Whitesburg and Cowan on a great tournament and season.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Soccer Team will play Lawrence County  this Tuesday night, October 29 at 7:00pm in a semi-state game and it will be held at Letcher County Central.

It's the opening round game of the KHSAA Girls Soccer Sweet 16 State Tournament.

Admission is $7.00, set by the KHSAA, not the host school.

The winner advancing to play in the Elite 8 in Lexington at Lafayette High School on Saturday, November 2.

Congratulations to Coach Betty Acevedo, Asst. Chris Schulz and the Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Soccer Team on winning the 14th Region Girls Soccer Championship.
 
Congratulations are also in order for Carlie Combs, Meg Raleigh, Kelsey Cornett, and Brittany Buttrey as they were named to the 14th Region All - Tournament Team and to Brooke Kincer as she was selected the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

At 6:00pm Jackson City will take on Knott County Central and Powell County plays Leslie County at 7:30pm

Tuesday night at Powell County,  Hazard battles Wolfe County at 6:00pm and 53rd District Champion the Letcher County Central Cougars will take on Owsley County at 7:30pm.

The Semi-finals will be Wednesday with the championship game on Thursday, all at Powell County in the 14th Region Volleyball Tournament.

Letcher County Central JV Football Team will play Belfry on tonight at 6:00pm at home on LCC Cougar Field.

The LCC Cougar Varsity football team lost at Whitley County Friday night 44-20.

With the loss the Cougars fall to 4-5 on the season and 1-2 in district play.

There is now a 3 way tie for 2nd in the district but depending on this week's games, the Cougars will finish 3rd or 4th and will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs in 2 weeks.

The Cougars will wrap up the regular season with Breathitt County this Friday at home.  It will be senior night for LCC football.  Kick off is set for 7:30pm.

Game one was a good one with Jackson City advancing by beating Knott County Central 3-2.

Leslie County beat Powell County 3-0 in game two.  

Jackson City will play Leslie County in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Congratulations to the Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Soccer Team!

They are the 2013 14th Region Champions after beating Estill County 5-1 in the championship game last night at LCC.

They have now won back to back 14th Region Championships.  

The Lady Cougars are 12-4 and now move on to the Girls Soccer State Tournament.

In the Boys 14th Region Championship game also played at LCC last night,  it was Estill County over defending champion Perry County Central 3-2.    

The Engineers from Irvine will now move on the Boys Soccer State Tournament.

The Girls LCEAA Middle School A Team County Basketball Tournament will continue on Sunday afternoon at Letcher County Central High School Gym.  

The consolation game will be at 2:00pm with the championship game to follow at 3:30pm.

It's week #10 of high school football and the 4-4 Letcher County Central Cougar Football team is on the road tonight in Williamsburg to take on the 0-8 Whitley County Colonels.

It's the final district game with a lot on the line.

With a Cougar win tonight and a Harlan County win over Perry County Central,  LCC would be playing at home in the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2009.  

Kickoff for the Cougars and Colonels is set for 7:30pm tonight.  

We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog with the Appalachian Wireless Cougar Countdown Pre Game Show starting at 6:45pm.

The UK Wildcats came up short against Mississippi State last night on the road in Starkville in the special Thursday night game.

The final was 28-22 and the Cats are now 1-6 on the season and 0-4 in the SEC.

They will step out of conference for their next game on Saturday November 2nd against Alabama State at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.

Kickoff will be at 7:30pm.
