It's high school basketball Live tonight on 103.9 The Bulldog as the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will take on Jackson City at home in the LCC Gym.

The Cougars are 0-1 are losing their season opener at home in a close to Harlan County by 4 on Tuesday night.

Jackson City is 1-0 after beating Menifee County 86-79 also on Tuesday.

The Cougar boys and Jackson City JV plays at 6:00pm tonight with varsity tipoff at 7:30.

Our Appalachian Wireless Cougar Countdown Pre Game Show begins at 7:00 on the Bulldog and at 1039thebulldog.com.

Also tonight in boys mountain high school basketball,  Buckhorn is at Cordia and Owsley County plays at Hazard.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys will next play at Jackson City Friday night at 6:00pm.

Jenkins Girls will take on Cordia in a district game Friday night in their home opener.

The LCC Lady Cougars next game will be on the road at Jackson City Friday night.  Varsity only with tipoff at 8:00pm.

The Lady Cougars home opener scheduled for Saturday against Scott County has been postponed and has been rescheduled for January 20th.

The girls home opener will now be on Friday December 13th against Jenkins.

It's a mega double header Friday night for the UK Wildcat Mens and Womens as they both take on Baylor at AT & T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

All 4 teams are ranked in the top 25.

We'll bring you both the mens and womens UK games against Baylor Friday night here on the Bulldog.

The women play first at 7:30pm with the men's tipoff around 10:00pm.

The Countdown to Tip Off Show will begin at 6:00pm Friday night here on the Bulldog, your home of the big blue!

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys played the season opening game last night at home against Harlan County.

The Black Bears beat the Cougars 61-57.

The Cougars were up by 2 at halftime but were outscored 21-12 in the 4th quarter.

The Cougars were led in scoring with 23 from Chippy Frazier.

Josh Owens added 12, Jordan Gregory 10 and Tyler Collins had 8.

Harlan County's Zack Caldwell had 17.

The LCC Boys will next play Jackson City at home Thursday night and we'll bring you the game live here on the Bulldog with pregame starting at 7.  

Varsity tipoff is at 7:30.

Also in an early season 53rd District Matchup Knott County Central, ranked #6 in the state, beat Jenkins 93-25.

Knott Central Junior and Tennessee signee Camron Justice scored 27 points to move him over 2,000 points in his high school career.  

Jenkins was led by Randy Potter with 10.

The Cavalier boys will next play at Jackson City Friday night at 6:00pm.

Hazard beat Estill County 71-41
Buckhorn knocked off Owsley County 56-30
Leslie County 64 Powell County 61
and Perry County Central knocked off Breathitt County 74-52.

In girls basketball last night the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers began the new season with a nice win over J.I. Burton of Wise County on the road.
The final was 85-30.  

The Lady Cavaliers will next take on Cordia in a district game Friday night in their home opener.

The Lady Commodores were led by Miss Kentucky candidate Kayla Rankin who had 42 points and 30 rebounds.

The #3 UK Basketball Cats are now 7-1 and their next game will be at AT & T Stadium in Arlington Texas this Friday night against Baylor.   Game time is 10:00pm with pregame at 8:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The game is part of a UK-Baylor mens/womens  doubleheader.   The women's game will be first at 7:30pm.  The UK Women are ranked #7 and unbeaten at 8-0.

The 2013 KHSAA High School Football State Championship games are now set for this Friday and Saturday at LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

On Friday in Class A Mayfield takes on Williamsburg at 11:00am

Unbeaten Wayne County takes on Belfry in 3A at 3:00pm.  Belfry return to the state championship game for the 4th year in a row.  The Pirates have not won a state championship since 2004.  

Friday night at 7:00pm Meade County will battle Scott County for the 6A championship.

On Saturday at 11:00am the Class 2A championship game will be DeSales against Newport Central Catholic.  NCC beat Somerset 49-48 in Double OT in the state semi's Friday night.

At 3:00pm Saturday afternoon Collins takes on Highlands in the 4A championship game and then at 7:00pm Saturday Bowling Green battles unbeaten Pulaski County for the 5A championship.

High School basketball gets underway for the new season tonight as the defending 14th Region Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will begin play at Johnson Central this evening at 7:30pm.  

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will open the season at home tomorrow  against Harlan County.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys open up under new coach Pat Jervis also on Tuesday with a district game at Knott County Central.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will also open the new season tomorrow at J.I. Burton in Wise County.

Tonight on the Bulldog we'll bring you the final Coach Mark Stoops football coaches show at 6:00pm.   The football Cats wrapped up the 2013 season with a 2-10 record after losing to Tennessee at home Saturday 27-14.

We'll have the Coach Cal Show at 7:00pm tonight followed by BIg Blue Sports Weekly with Neil Price at 8:00pm.

The #3 Basketball Cats are now 7-1 after beating Providence at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night 79-65

The next UK basketball Cats game will be at AT & T Stadium in Arlington Texas this Friday night against Baylor.   Game time is 10:00pm with pregame Friday night at 8:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The defending 14th Region champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars opened the 2013-14 season on the road in Paintsville against the Johnson Central Lady Golden Eagles last night.   

The Lady Cougars lost 49-38.

They will next play at Jackson City this Friday December 6th.    

The Lady Cougars home opener scheduled for Saturday against Scott County has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.   

The girls home opener will be Friday December 13th against Jenkins.

The KHSAA High School Football State semi-finals will be played tonight with 24 teams looking for a state championship.

Tonight's games across the state include:

In Class A Raceland is at Williamsburg and Frankfort at Mayfield.

In Class 2A Somerset is at Newport Central Catholic and Delales is at Murray.

Belfry plays at Bourbon County and Wayne County travels to Paducah Tilghman in Class 3A.

In 4A Highlands is at Lexington Catholic and Collins plays at Owensboro.

5A will be Pulaski County at Anderson County and John Hardin at Bowling Green.

The 6A games are Scott County at Male and Butler at Meade County.

The UK Football Cats will wrap up the 2013 season this Saturday at home against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Kickoff is 7:00pm Saturday with pregame at 5:30pm on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The 6-1 UK Basketball Cats will be back in action this afternoon Sunday night as they travel to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to take on Providence.  Game time is 8:30pm Sunday night.
