There's 2 more week of the regular season in high school basketball.  The district tournaments will begin Monday February 24th.

The 18-7 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars have now won 4 in a row and 6 of their last 7 as they knocked off 15th Region foe Betsy Layne on the road Saturday 69-40.  

The Lady Cougars will take on the Belfry Lady Pirates, also from the 15th Region, tonight at LCC in their last home game of the season.  

JV begins at 6 with varsity at 7:30.

We'll bring you the Lady Cougars game tonight on the Bulldog with the Appalachian Wireless Cougar Countdown Pre-Game Show beginning at 7.

The 14-9 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers won't play again until this Saturday February 15th when they are at Perry County Central.

The 14-11 Letcher County Central Cougar boys were scheduled to play at Cordia Friday night and at Estill County Saturday afternoon but both games were postponed.   

The next Cougar boys game will be at home as they take on Breathitt County this Thursday.  

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys will be in action at home tonight against Allen Central.  

JV at 6.  Varsity at 7:30.

The UK Wildcats beat Mississippi State Saturday on the road 69-59 to improve to 18-5 overall and 8-2 in the SEC.

The Cats are back on the road at Auburn Wednesday night.  

Tipoff is 8:00pm.

Tonight on the Bulldog we'll have the Coach Cal Show with Tom Leach starting at 6:00pm.

In Girls High School basketball last night, The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars improved to 17-7 overall after beating the Hazard Lady Bulldogs on the road 54-41.  

The Lady Cougars had 3 players in double figures led by Kim Meade with 14, Cheyenne Stidham picked up 13 and Kelli Quillen added 11.  

The LCC Girls are back on the road Saturday afternoon playing at Belfry.

JV is at 2 with Varsity at 3:30.

Lee County over Owsley County 71-58
Betsy Layne 54 Pike County Central 38
and Belfry beat Prestonsburg 66-51.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers won't play again until Saturday February 15th when they take on Perry County Central.

Also in last night's action, Harlan County over Harlan 53-52 and Johnson Central beat Paintsville 78-55.

Congratulations to the Letcher Middle School Eagles.  

They won the LCEAA Boys Basketball County Championship last night at Letcher County Central.   

The Eagles beat Whitesburg in the championship game 34-24.

In Boys High School basketball games last night:

Knott County Central held off Corida 70-61 in a 53rd district battle at the Morton Combs Athletic Complex in Hindman.

Also Breathitt County over Lee County by 10, 74-64
Buckhorn beat Estill County 66-56
Harlan County 66 South Floyd 41
Pike County Central squeezed by Belfry 63-62 and Pikeville over Prestonsburg 74-72.

The Letcher County Central Cougars lost at Hazard last night and will play at Cordia on Friday in a district game.  JV at 6.  Varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys will face Knott County Central in a district game Thursday at home.  JV at 6.  Varsity at 7:30.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play a make up district game tonight at home against Cordia.   

Game time is 7:30.  

The Lady Cougars Freshmen team will play Leslie County at 6:00 this evening.   

Lady Cougar Senior Kelli Quillen will be honored between games and the LCC Senior Cougar and Lady Cougar Golfers will be recognized at halftime of the varsity game.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will play at South Floyd tonight.  

Varsity only and it begins at 6:00pm.

The UK Wildcats got a double double from Willie Cauley Stein last night with 18 points and 11 rebounds as they beat Ole Miss at home 80-64.

The Cats will play at Mississippi State this Saturday.  Game time is 1:30.  Pre Game begins at 12 noon on 103.9 The Bulldog.

Today is National Signing Day for the UK Wildcat Football Team.  

Coach Mark Stoops is expected to sign one of the best recruiting classes in UK Football history.

In Girls High School basketball last night, The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars beat Cordia in a home district game 84-36.

It was also Senior Night for Lady Cougar Kelli Quillen.

The 16-7 LCC Girls will play at the Hazard Lady Bulldogs tonight.  

JV at 6.  Varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers improved to 14-9 overall with an 81-57 road win over South Floyd.


The Lady Cavaliers won't play again until Saturday February 15th when they take on Perry County Central.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Wrestling Team hosted the Ben Fisher Memorial on Saturday.

Kane Gibson, Owen Gibson and Dakota Green took 1st place, Dalton Gibson, Ethan Riley and Logan Fisher all placed 2nd and Tyler Daylong took home 3rd.

In Boys High School Basketball last night Central High School of Wise County, VA beat Jenkins 63-53.  

The  4-15 Cavaliers will take on Knott County Central at home in a district game on Thursday.  

Tip off is 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys are 14-10 and will be back in action tonight on the road against the 16-5 Hazard Bulldogs.  

JV begins at 6:00pm and Varsity tips off at 7:30pm.

Monday night in Girls High School Basketball Breathitt County beat Wolfe County 83-57, Harlan County over Middlesboro 71-47, Hazard got by Jackson City 48-44 and Knott County Central knocked off June Buchanan 68-50.

Last night's Letcher County Central Lady Cougars game against Owsley County was postponed due to the weather and will be rescheduled later.   

The 15-7 Lady Cougars will now take on Cordia Wednesday at home.  

Tip off is 7:30 and it will be Senior Night for Kelli Quillen.  

The Lady Cougars Freshmen team will play Leslie County at home on Wednesday at 6:00pm.  

The LCC girls play at Hazard on Thursday.

The 13-9 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will next play at South Floyd this Wedneday at 6:00pm.
