The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars got a nice 14th Region road win at Leslie County last night.  

LCC won by 11, 53-42, to improve to 4-2 overall.  

They were led in scoring by Cheyenne Stidham with 28.  

Kelli Quillen added 9 and Courtney Brock had  7.   

The Lady Cougars will play their 3rd straight road game at Breathitt County Friday night with tipoff at 8:00pm.

Also last night in girls mountain basketball:

Breathitt County over Wolfe County 99-75, June Buchanan beat South Floyd 58-45 and Owsley County won over Cordia 50-31.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will begin play today in the Smokey Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg.  

They will play games today, Friday and Saturday.

In Boys high school basketball last night:

Wolfe County outlasted Leslie County 91-89 in double overtime and Morgan County beat Elliot County 49-46.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will begin play today in the Smokey Mountain Classic in Gatlinburg.   

They will take on Carter County, TN at Gatlinburg-Pittman HS today at 2:30pm.  

The Cougars will also play games Friday and Saturday in the Smokey Mountain Classic.

The next game for the Jenkins Cavalier Boys will be Friday as they take on Phelps at home.  

Tip off is at 7:30pm.

The 8-3 #19 ranked UK Wildcats are back in action Saturday when they host Belmont at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

 The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys are now 4-2 on the year and winners of 3 in a row after beating South Floyd on the road last night 75-59.

The Cougars will now head to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to play in the Smokey Mountain Classic this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Also last night in boys action:

Belfry over Jenkins 68-46.   The Cavaliers next game will be at home against Phelps this Friday night.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar beat Jenkins on Friday but lost to Bell County Saturday to even their record at 2-2.

Friday night it was a much anticipated cross county & district game between the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers and LCC Lady Cougars.  

Combined 163 shots were taken, 98 rebounds and 43 fouls made before the Lady Cougars came out on top 58-53 in a very good ballgame that went to the wire.

The Lady Cougars then lost on the road at Bell County Saturday 59-43.

Up next the LCC girls will play a district game at Cordia tonight with tip off at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will next take on Pike County Central on the road tonight with tip off at 6:00pm.

The LCCHS Wrestling team participated in the Johnson County Central Classic Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, December 14.

Approximately 15 teams participated in the event.

LCCHS had three 4th place medalists:  Logan Fisher, Hunter Holbrook and Ethan Riley.

The Cougar wrestling team will wrestle in the Bobby Bates Classic at the UVA Wise Convocation Center this Friday/Saturday December 20-21.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys basketball team evened their record to 2-2 last night with a win over Phelps 73-51 at LCC.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Senior Josh Owens, who had 19 along with 7 rebounds.  Freshmen Torrell Carter had 11.

The Cougars were scheduled to play at Belfry on Saturday but that game has been moved to tonight and will still be played at Belfry. 

Gametime for the Cougars & Pirates will be 8:00pm and varsity only.

and in OT, Sheldon Clark 65 Johnson Central 64

103.9 The Bulldog will bring you a big Girls basketball game tonight as the 1-1 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will tangle with the 5-0 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers at LCC in a cross county & district matchup.

The game before at 6:00pm will be Knott County Central taking on LCC in a freshmen game.

Best wishes to the the LCC Lady Cougar Cheerleading Squad, they will compete Saturday in the KHSAA Cheer Championships at the KY Horse Park in Lexington.  It begins at 10:00am.
