The defending 14th Region champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars opened the 2013-14 season on the road in Paintsville against the Johnson Central Lady Golden Eagles last night.   

The Lady Cougars lost 49-38.

They will next play at Jackson City this Friday December 6th.    

The Lady Cougars home opener scheduled for Saturday against Scott County has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.   

The girls home opener will be Friday December 13th against Jenkins.
Other girls high school basketball scores from last night:

and Harlan County over Clay County 50-42

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will also open the new season tonight on the road at J.I. Burton in Wise County.

Tipoff is at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will open the season at home tonight against 13th Region foe, the Harlan County Black Bears.

JV tips off at 6:00pm with varsity to follow around 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys also open up tonight under new coach Pat Jervis.

They will play a district game in Hindman against Knott County Central.

Our first high school basketball broadcast here on the Bulldog will be this  Thursday December 5th as the LCC Cougar boys take on Jackson City at home.

The #3 UK Basketball Cats are now 7-1 and their next game will be at AT & T Stadium in Arlington Texas this Friday night against Baylor.   Game time is 10:00pm with pregame Friday night at 8:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The game is part of a UK-Baylor mens/womens  doubleheader.   The women's game will be first at 7:30pm.  The UK Women are ranked #7 and unbeaten at 8-0.

The 2013 KHSAA High School Football State Championship games are now set for this Friday and Saturday at LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

On Friday in Class A Mayfield takes on Williamsburg at 11:00am

Unbeaten Wayne County takes on Belfry in 3A at 3:00pm.  Belfry return to the state championship game for the 4th year in a row.  The Pirates have not won a state championship since 2004.  

Friday night at 7:00pm Meade County will battle Scott County for the 6A championship.

On Saturday at 11:00am the Class 2A championship game will be DeSales against Newport Central Catholic.  NCC beat Somerset 49-48 in Double OT in the state semi's Friday night.

At 3:00pm Saturday afternoon Collins takes on Highlands in the 4A championship game and then at 7:00pm Saturday Bowling Green battles unbeaten Pulaski County for the 5A championship.

Tonight on the Bulldog we'll bring you the final Coach Mark Stoops football coaches show at 6:00pm.   The football Cats wrapped up the 2013 season with a 2-10 record after losing to Tennessee at home Saturday 27-14.

We'll have the Coach Cal Show at 7:00pm tonight followed by BIg Blue Sports Weekly with Neil Price at 8:00pm.

The #3 Basketball Cats are now 7-1 after beating Providence at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night 79-65

The next UK basketball Cats game will be at AT & T Stadium in Arlington Texas this Friday night against Baylor.   Game time is 10:00pm with pregame Friday night at 8:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The KHSAA High School Football State semi-finals are now set with 4 teams left in each of the 6 classes.

This Friday's games include:

In Class A Raceland is at Williamsburg and Frankfort at Mayfield.

In Class 2A Somerset is at Newport Central Catholic and Delales is at Murray.

Belfry plays at Bourbon County and Wayne County travels to Paducah Tilghman in Class 3A.

In 4A Highlands is at Lexington Catholic and Collins plays at Owensboro.

5A will be Pulaski County at Anderson County and John Hardin at Bowling Green.

The 6A games are Scott County at Male and Butler at Meade County.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys open up under new coach Pat Jervis also on Tuesday December 3rd with a district game at Knott County Central.

Today at Letcher County Central High School the Cougar boys basketball team will scrimmage Owsley County at 12 noon and the LCC Lady Cougars will also scrimmage at 3:00pm against Magoffin County.

The 5-1 UK Basketball Cats will be back in action this afternoon as they take on Eastern Michigan in Rupp Arena at a special time of 4:00pm with pregame at 2:30pm on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The UK Football Cats will wrap up the 2013 season this Saturday at home against the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Wrestling team participated in the Nick Cory Take Down Tournament on Saturday at Perry County Central.

They had six first place wins including Logan Fisher, Devin Slone, Dalton Gibson, Kane Gibson, Logan Sexton and Houston Sword.

The Cougar wrestling team also had seven second place wins including Bobby McKenzie, Dustyn Reinstetle, Tyler Daylong, Owen Gibson, Hunter Holbrook, Nick Mullins, and Max Bailey.

Dakota Green finished in third place and Ethan Riley and Austin Johnson finished 4th place in their respective weight classes.

LCC was 2nd in team points at the tournament under the direction of new head coach, Matt Kettler and former wrestler and now assistant CJ Philpott.

Last night was Meet the Cougars at LCC for the basketball team, band, cheerleaders and dance team.

Tonight, the LCC Lady Cougar basketball team will scrimmage at Paintsville.

Game time is 6:00pm.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Cougar boys basketball team will scrimmage Owsley County at home at 12 noon and the LCC Lady Cougars will also scrimmage tomorrow at 3:00pm against Magoffin County.

The 2013-14 season for KHSAA high school boys/girls basketball begins next week.

LCC boys open at home Tuesday December 3rd against Harlan County and the LCC girls will open on the road at Johnson Central on Monday December 2nd.

The #4 UK Wildcat basketball team rallied from 10 points down to beat Cleveland State 68-61 last night in Rupp Arena.  

The 5-1 Cats will be back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, as they take on Eastern Michigan in Rupp Arena at a special time of 4:00pm with pregame at 2:30pm on 103.9 The Bulldog.
