The Letcher County Central Cougars and Lady Cougars both got wins over the weekend.

The Cougar boys beat Union, VA at home Saturday night 71-50.  

Josh Owens led them with 31 points.  

The Cougars are now 7-6.

The Lady Cougars beat the Knott County Central Lady Patriots in Hindman Saturday night 59-43.   

The Lady Cougars are now 6-5 on the season.

The LCC Boys and Girls are both back in action tonight, weather permitting, to play a district doubleheader at June Buchanan.  

Boys tipoff at 6:00pm with the girls playing at 7:30pm.  

The Jenkins Cavalier boys are scheduled to play again this Wednesday at Central HS of Wise County, VA with tipoff at 7:30pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will be at home tonight to play a big 14th Region game against Perry County Central.

Tipoff at Jenkins will be at 7:00pm.

Our next basketball broadcast here on the Bulldog will be this Friday January 10th as the LCC Cougars and Jenkins Cavaliers meet up in a cross county district matchup at LCC.   

Gametime is 7:30pm with our Cougar Countdown Pre-game Show starting at 7:00pm.

After a 10 day game break the UK Wildcats will be back in action this Wednesday as SEC play begins.  

The Cats will host Mississippi State at Rupp Arena.  Game time is 8:00pm with Countdown to Tipoff at 6:30pm here on WXKQ 103.9 The Bulldog.

The Letcher County Central Cougars and Jenkins Cavaliers boys games scheduled for last night were both postponed due to the weather.

Both the LCC-Knott County Central district game and Jenkins-Wise County VA Central games will be rescheduled.

The 6-6 Cougars will next play Union HS of Wise County VA at home Saturday night.  JV at 6:00 with varsity at 7:30pm.

The Cavaliers won't play again until next Wednesday when they play on the road at Central HS of Wise County, VA.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars basketball team is 5-5 and will next play tomorrow(Saturday) at Knott County Central in a 53rd district game.  

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are now 8-4 and will next play Paintsville at home tonight at 6:00pm.

The UK Wildcats are back in action on Wednesday of next week when they open SEC play at home against Mississippi State.

Tipoff is 8:00pm with pre-game at 6:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars basketball team took 4th place in the Beech Holiday Tournament just outside Nashville.  

LCC lost to Beech TN High School of Hendersonville, TN in the 3rd place game yesterday 46-32.  

They won 1 game and lost 2 during the tournament and now stand at 5-5 on the season.  

The Lady Cougars will next play this Saturday at Knott County Central in a 53rd district game.  

We'll bring you that game live here on the Bulldog.  

Tipoff at 7:30 with pregame at 7.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers were in action on the road last night in Jackson to play the Breathitt County Lady Bobcats in a 14th Region match up.  

It was a high scoring game with Breathitt County winning over Jenkins 100-80.  

The Lady Cavaliers are now 8-4 and will next play Paintsville at home this Friday at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys team beat Clintwood VA at home last night 76-38.  

It was the 3rd win on the year for the Cavaliers and they will next play Central HS of Wise VA at home this Thursday at 7:30pm.

The 6-6 Letcher County Central Cougar boys will be back on the court this Thursday at Knott County Central in a district contest.  

Tipoff at 7:30pm and we'll bring you the game here on the Bulldog with pregame beginning at 7:00pm.  

The Cougars will then return home to face Union HS out of VA on Saturday.

The now #15 ranked UK Wildcats won't play again again Wednesday of next week, January 8th, when they open SEC play at home against Mississippi State.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys basketball team is back in action tonight.

The Cougars will be on the road in Hindman to play the #11 ranked Knott County Central Patriots in a district battle.

The Cougars are 6-6 and Knott Central is 9-2 but lost their last 2 in a row to Newport Central Catholic and Lexington Catholic in the Republic Bank Classic.

Tipoff is at 7:30pm for varsity.  JV at 6.

Also tonight in Boys Mountain Basketball:

Central HS of Wise County,VA will be at Jenkins to play the Cavaliers.  Tipoff is 7:30.

Hazard is at June Buchanan
and Leslie County is at Harlan.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys played Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Pikeville Invitational Tournament at Pikeville High School and brought home the 3rd place trophy.   

The 6-6 Cougars beat North Laurel 69 to 67 in the 3rd place game Saturday.   

LCC beat Phelps 78-47 on Thursday and lost to Pikeville Friday 65-58.   

Chippy Frazier and Josh Owens made the all tournament team for the Cougars.  

Betsy Layne won the PIT beating Pikeville 64-51 on Saturday.

Letcher Central will play again this Thursday Jan 2nd at Knott County Central in a district contest and will return home to face Union, VA on Saturday.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys lost 2 games in the Mountain Schoolboy Classic at Belfry.

Thursday they lost to Magoffin County 86-59 and they lost to Sheldon Clark Saturday 65-47.  

The 2-8 Cavaliers will next play Clintwood, VA at home tonight with game time at 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play for 3rd place today in the Beech Holiday Tournament at Beech, TN near Nashville.   

So far the 5-4 Lady Cougars beat Station Camp, TN on Friday 37-35 but lost to Brentwood, TN on Saturday 52-25.  

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are 8-3 now after knocking off J.I. Burton out of Wise County, VA at home on Friday.  

The final was 85-61.   

The Lady Cavaliers are back in action tonight on the road at Breathitt County.  

Game time is 7:30.

The UK Wildcats got their signature win of the season on Saturday beating the Louisville Cardinals 73-66.

The Cats won't play again again Wednesday of next week, January 8th, when they open SEC play at home against Mississippi State.
