The Lady Cavaliers are now 6-1 and will play in the Smokey Mountain Classic this Thursday-Saturday in Gatlinburg, TN.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars have road games this week on Wednesday and Friday.  

Wednesday they play at Leslie County and at Breathitt County Friday night.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys and coach Pat Jervis picked up their first win of the season last night beating South Floyd at home 71-50.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar beat Jenkins on Friday but lost to Bell County Saturday to even their record at 2-2.

Friday night it was a much anticipated cross county & district game between the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers and LCC Lady Cougars.  

Combined 163 shots were taken, 98 rebounds and 43 fouls made before the Lady Cougars came out on top 58-53 in a very good ballgame that went to the wire.

The Lady Cougars then lost on the road at Bell County Saturday 59-43.

Up next the LCC girls will play a district game at Cordia tonight with tip off at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will next take on Pike County Central on the road tonight with tip off at 6:00pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys got a nice road win at Belfry Friday night 64-62.

The Cougars, now 3-2 will play at South Floyd Tuesday with JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys will next play tonight at home against South Floyd.

The LCCHS Wrestling team participated in the Johnson County Central Classic Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, December 14.

Approximately 15 teams participated in the event.

LCCHS had three 4th place medalists:  Logan Fisher, Hunter Holbrook and Ethan Riley.

The Cougar wrestling team will wrestle in the Bobby Bates Classic at the UVA Wise Convocation Center this Friday/Saturday December 20-21.

Perry County Central girls' basketball coach Randy Napier is the new all-time winningest coach in girls hoops in Kentucky.

Napier's Lady Commodores beat Jackson City 85-51 Wednesday night to surpass former Marshall County coach Howard Beth with his 794th career win.

Napier, who guided M.C. Napier to the 1994 Sweet 16 girls' state title, has also captured nine 14th region titles in 32 years of coaching.

The #11 ranked UK Wildcats woke up in the 2nd half and beat Boise State at Rupp Arena last night 70-55.   

The Cats are 8-2 on the season and will have a huge game this Saturday in Chapel Hill against the North Carolina Tarheels.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys basketball team evened their record to 2-2 last night with a win over Phelps 73-51 at LCC.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Senior Josh Owens, who had 19 along with 7 rebounds.  Freshmen Torrell Carter had 11.

The Cougars were scheduled to play at Belfry on Saturday but that game has been moved to tonight and will still be played at Belfry. 

Gametime for the Cougars & Pirates will be 8:00pm and varsity only.

Oneida Baptist 67 Leslie County 59
and in OT, Sheldon Clark 65 Johnson Central 64

Best wishes to the the LCC Lady Cougar Cheerleading Squad, they will compete Saturday in the KHSAA Cheer Championships at the KY Horse Park in Lexington.  It begins at 10:00am.

Boys High School Basketball scores from Tuesday:

In an early seson  53rd District matchup The Knott County Central Patriots beat the Cordia Lions at Cordia 79-64.

The #6 Patriots is now 3-0 and was led by Evan Hall's 21, Chance Cornett had 20, and Camron Justice 18.

Cordia is 2-1 and led by Cunningham with 27.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are off to a great start and still unbeaten at 5-0 after beating Knott County Central 96-64 at Hindman last night in a district game.
The unbeaten Lady Cavaliers will next face the 1-1 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars at LCC in a cross county/district game Friday night.
