The KHSAA Class 2A Region 7 Cross Country Champions, the Letcher County Central Boys & Girls will compete Saturday in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The boys will run at 11:15 and the girls at 12 noon.

Tonight is the opening round of the KHSAA High School Football playoffs.

The Letcher County Central Cougars will open the Class 5A playoffs on the road tonight as they take on District 7 2nd place team Madison Southern in Berea.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm.  

We'll broadcast the LCC-Madison Southern game here on 103.9 The Bulldog with the Cougar Countdown pre game show starting at 6:45pm.

Because of the LCC Football game tonight we will not be able to bring you the UK basketball opening game as the Cats take on UNC Asheville at Rupp Arena.

Tipoff time is at 7:00pm.

The Cats will also play on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Northern Kentucky University to Lexington.

Tipoff time is at 4:00pm.  Pregame Sunday afternoon begins at 2:30pm here on the Bulldog.

The UK football Cats will get back into SEC play tomorrow on Saturday as they will take on the Missouri Tigers at home.  

Kickoff is at 12 noon.  Pregame at 10:30am tomorrow morning here on the Bulldog.

The Letcher County Central Boys & Girls Cross Country Teams are Region Champions.

Both teams won the region on Saturday afternoon at Fairview High School in Ashland in the KHSAA Class 2A Region 7 Cross Country Meet.

They will compete this weekend in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The Letcher County Central Cougar football team finishes the regular season with a 4-6 overall record after losing to Breathitt County Friday night.

The Cougars placed 3rd in Class 5A District 8 and will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs this Friday night.

The Cougars will take on Class 5A District 7 2nd place team Madison Southern in Berea.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm.

Because of other programming commitments the LCC Cougar Coaches Show with Mike Holcomb from Pine Moutntain Grill will not air this week.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will be on the road to take on Williamsburg this Friday night in the first round of the playoffs.

The Mark Stoops UK football coaches show and Big Blue Nightly with Neil Price will air tonight starting at 6:00pm.

 The Hazard Lady Bulldogs are the 14th Region Volleyball champions.  

They beat Leslie County in the Championship Game at Powell County High School in Stanton last night.

The final score was 3-1.

Hazard is the first team besides Letcher County Central to win the Region since 2005.

Best of luck to Hazard in the Volleyball State Tournament.

They will play Oldham County on November 8th at 11:00am.

The State Volleyball Tournament will be held at Valley High School in Louisville.

The Letcher County Central Cougar football team will wrap up the regular season at home tonight with a big game against the Breathitt County Bobcats.

The Cougars are 4-5 on the season and Breathitt County is 5-4 and winners of 4 in a row.  

It will also be senior night for LCC football and an emotional night for LCC Coach Mike Holcomb as he welcomes his former school and former players to Cougar Field.  

Kick off is set for 7:30pm.  We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog with the Appalachian Wireless Cougar Countdown Pre Game Show starting at 6:45pm.

Senior Night activities for the 14 young men will begin around 6:30pm this evening so all fans need to be there early.

Jenkins will be home tonight taking on Betsy Layne at 7:30pm.

Also a lot of eyes will be on the huge matchup tonight of Johnson Central at Belfry.  

Both teams come in at 9-0 and it should be a fantastic ballgame.

Also tonight Harlan County is at Bell County.

Pike County Central is at Perry County Central and Whitley County is at Boyle County in the final week of high school football before the playoffs.

The UK Men's Basketball Team will have an exhibition game tonight against Kentucky's Transylvania University at Rupp Arena in Lexington.

Tipoff time is 7:00pm.

The Cats will also have an exhibition game against Montevallo this Monday at 7;00pm.

The open the season against UNC Ashville next Friday November 8th in Lexington.  

The UK Football Cats will have homecoming this Saturday as they take on Alabama State at Commonwealth Stadium.  

Kickoff is 7:30 with pre game at 6:00pm on the Bulldog.

In the last of 2 exhibition games, the UK Wildcat beat Montevallo College last night 95 to 72.

Julius Randle led the Cats with 21 points and 11 rebounds, giving him a double-double in both exhibition games.

The Cats will open the regular season against UNC Asheville this Friday at 7:00pm at Rupp Arena.

The 14th Region Volleyball Tournament semi-finals were played at Powell County High School in Stanton last night and the season has ended for the 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars.  

LCC lost to the Hazard Lady Bulldogs in 5 sets last night.  

The Lady Cougars had won the 14th Region Tournament all 8 years that LCC has existed.

Great season!  Big congrats to the LCC Lady Cougar Volleyball team and the Coaching staff.


Hazard now moves on to play Leslie County in tonight's championship game.   Leslie County beat Jackson City in the other semi-final game.

Tonight's championship game begins at 7:00pm at Powell County High School.
