The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars picked up a big win at home over the Scott County Lady Cardinals on Monday afternoon 50-45.    

The Lady Cougars were down by by 7 at one point and fought back for the win.

Cheyenne Stidham led the Cougars with 17,  Kelli Quillen had 9 points and 11 rebounds, Courtney Brock added 9.  

The now 13-6 Lady Cougars have won 8 of 9 games and will next play Knott County Central in a district game at home this Friday with JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys have won 7 of 8 games and will battle Cordia tonight at home.

Gametime is 6 for JV and 7:30 for Varsity.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys are back in action tonight playing at South Floyd.  

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will take on Cordia on the road this Friday in their next game with tipoff at 6:00pm.

The 13-4 UK Wildcats will be home at Rupp Arena tonight to battle
Texas A & M in an SEC matchup.  

Game time is 9:00pm and we'll join the UK game right at tipoff just after the LCC-Cordia Boys game.

The Coach Cal Show, Big Blue Weekly and Coach Matthew Mitchell Show will all air this week, tomorrow, on Wednesday starting at 6:00pm right here on the Bulldog.

The Cordia Lions and the Leslie County Lady Eagles will be heading to the State All A Tournament after winning the 14th Region All A Titles on Saturday at Perry County Central.

The Leslie County Lady Eagles beat the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers 81-60 to win the girls championship.  

Whitney Creech, the state's leading scorer, had 43 to lead Jenkins and all scorers.  

Congrats to Coach Addington and the Lady Cavaliers as they made a great run in the tournament.

Jenkins, now 13-5, is right back in action tonight at 8-7 Knott County Central in a district game at 6:00pm.

The Cordia Lions won the the 14th Region All A Boys Tournament by beating Leslie County by 10 Saturday night 54-44.

The All A Boys & Girls State Tournaments will be January 29 through February 2 at the Frankfort Convention Center.

The Lady Cougars of Letcher County Central had their 7 game winning streak snapped Saturday with a road loss to Harlan County 45-35.  

LCC beat June Buchanan 49-23 at home Friday for a district win.  

The 12-6 Lady Cougars are in action today with a special afternoon game as they welcome 8-8 Scott County frm the 11th Region to LCC.   

Tipoff is set for 1:00pm today and we'll bring you the game live here on the Bulldog with Cougar Countdown pregame at 12:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys beat June Buchanan 63-37 for a district win Friday night.   

The Cougars have won 7 of 8 games and will battle Cordia Tuesday at home.

The Girls 14th Region All A Tournament quarterfinals were held last night across the area.  

The 12-4 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers advanced to the All A semi-finals beating Cordia 86-32.   Whitney Creech, the state's leading scorer, had 34 points, 18 for Mercedes Boggs and 17 for Sydney Yonts.

Also Owsley County beat Jackson City 68-58, Buckhorn knocked off Lee County 58-39 and Leslie County beat Wolfe County.

Friday night's Girls 14th Region All A semi-finals held at Perry County Central will be Leslie County taking on Owsley County at 6:30pm followed by Jenkins playing Buckhorn around 8:00pm.

The championship game will be Saturday at 8:00pm also at Perry County Central.

The 10-5  Letcher County Central Lady Cougars and winners of 5 in a row will play on the road at Pikeville tonight.  JV tips at 6 with varsity at 7:30pm.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys are back in action tonight at home.  They will take on the Pikeville Panthers.  JV begins at 6 with varsity tipoff at 7:30.

The LCC Boys and Girls will have a district doubleheader against June Buchanan Friday night at LCC.  The girls play at 6:00pm with the boys at 7:30pm.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys will next play this Tuesday night at South Floyd.

The Boys 14th Region All A Semi-finals will be played tonight at Perry County Central.  Hazard will play Cordia at 6:30pm and Leslie County takes on Lee County around 8:00pm.  The winners will meet for the championship Saturday at 6:00pm also at Perry County Central.

The UK Wildcats are now 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the SEC.  The Cats will return home to play Tennessee at Rupp Arena this Saturday.  Tipoff is at 12 noon with pregame at 10:30 Saturday morning here on the Bulldog.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars picked up win #6 in a row last night on the road against the Pikeville Lady Panthers 53-48.  

The Lady Cougars are now 11-5 overall and will face June Buchanan tonight at home at 6:00pm as part of a boys/girls district double header.

The LCC girls will play at Harlan County Saturday at 4:30pm and in a special day game at home on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr Day, they will welcome Scott County with tipoff at 1:00pm.  

The Letcher County Central Boys have now won 6 of 7 games as they knocked off the Pikeville Panthers last night at home.

The 11-7 Cougars won 71-60 to avenge an earlier season 7 point loss to Pikeville.

The Cougars were led by Chippy Frazier with 28 and Josh Owens with 25.

Up next for the LCC boys is June Buchanan at home tonight in that boys/girls district double header.  

They will then play Cordia at home Tuesday at 7:30.

The Boys 14th Region All A championship game is now set for Saturday at 6:00pm as Cordia will face Leslie County at Perry County Central.  

The winner goes to the State All A Tournament.  

In the semi-finals last night Cordia edged Hazard 51-49 and Leslie County beat Lee County 91-79.

Tonight at Perry County Central it's the Girls 14th Region All A semi-finals.

Leslie County will take on Owsley County at 6:30pm followed by Jenkins playing Buckhorn around 8:00pm.  

Tonight's two winners will meet in the Girls All A championship game Saturday at 8:00pm also at Perry County Central.

Tomorrow, Saturday, at 12 noon the UK Wildcats will return home to play the  Tennessee Volunteers at Rupp Arena.  Tipoff is at 12 noon with pregame at 10:30 Saturday morning here on the Bulldog.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys basketball team 5 game winning streak has ended with a 75 to 45 district loss on the road against Knott County Central Tuesday night.  Josh Owens led the Cougars with 26 of their 45 points.  Camron Justice led all scorers with 29 for the Patriots.  The Cougars are now 10-7 on the year.  They will next play Pikeville at home this Thursday with JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.  We'll broadcast that game here on the Bulldog with our Cougar Countdown Pre-game Show starting at 7 from LCC.

In the Boys 14th Region All A Quarterfinals last night Jenkins lost to Lee County 90-59, Hazard beat Jackson City 72-35, Cordia over Buckhorn 63-41 and Leslie County beat June Buchanan 68-46.   The Boys 14th Region All A Semi-finals will be played Thursday night at Perry County Central.  Hazard will play Cordia and Leslie County takes on Lee County.  The winners meet for the championship Saturday at 6:00pm also at Perry County Central.

Tonight the Girls 14th Region All A Quarterfinals will be held with the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers playing at Cordia, Lee County is at Buckhorn, Jackson City at Owsley County and Leslie County at Wolfe County.  

The Girls All A semi-finals and championship game will be this Friday and Saturday at Perry County Central.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are 10-5 overall and have won 5 in a row.  Their next game will be at Pikeville against the Lady Panthers tonight with JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.

Congratulations to Letcher County Central Cheerleaders, Loretta Adams and Callie Baker along with Cross Country-Track Athlete, Chase Cates.  All three will be signing scholarship papers with Union College today at 11:00 a.m. in the Library of Letcher County Central High School.

The UK Wildcats lost to Arkansas in a foul fest on the road in Overtime last night 87-85.  The Cats are now 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the SEC.  They will return home to play Tennessee at Rupp Arena this Saturday.  Tipoff is at 12 noon with pregame at 10:30 Saturday morning here on the Bulldog.
