The 8-2 CLASS 5A District 8 #1 seed Letcher County Central Cougar Football team will battle DIstrict 7 #4 seed, the
6-4 Madison Southern Eagles, led by highly recruited star running back back, Damien Harris in the opening round of the playoffs tonight at LCC.  Kickoff is 7:30. AW Cougar Countdown Pregame on the Bulldog begins at 6:45.

For Letcher County Central fans, all reserved season ticket holders seats will be honored, as well as their parking pass, but LCC season ticket holders will have to pay the $5.00 game admission price for a KHSAA post-season ticket.

LCC VOLLEYBALL IN STATE TOURNAMENT

The 14th Region Volleyball champion, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play today in the state volleyball tournament as they take on McCracken County from Region 1 this morning at 11am at Valley High School in Louisville.  The State Volleyball Tournament runs through Sunday.

LCC CROSS COUNTRY BOYS AND GIRLS AT STATE MEET

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams will compete this Saturday in the State Cross Country Meet  at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington..  The girls are Region champions, finishing 1st overall and the boys finished 2nd overall at Owsley County this past Saturday.

UK FOOTBALL

The 5-4 UK Wildcats football team will be back home this Saturday to face the Georgia Bulldogs at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington in the final home game of 2014.   Kickoff is 12 noon with pre-game at 10:30am here on the Bulldog.

UK BASKETBALL

The UK Basketball team will play Georgetown College of KY this Sunday at 7:00pm in the 2nd exhibition game of the year before opening the regular season on Nov 14th against Grand Canyon in the Cawood Ledford Classic in Lexington.

LCC CROSS COUNTRY GOING TO STATE

Congratulations to the Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams.  The girls are Region champions, finishing 1st overall and the boys finished 2nd overall at Owsley County this past Saturday.  Both teams will compete in the State Cross Country Meet this Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

The 14th Region Volleyball champion, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play in the state volleyball tournament against McCracken County from Region 1 this Friday November 7th at 11am at Valley High School in Louisville.

 

LCC AND JENKINS FOOTBALL BEGIN THE POST SEASON THIS FRIDAY

The Letcher County Central Cougar Football team finished the regular season at 8-2 with 6 wins in a row. The Cougars will now open the post season with a home playoff game against Madison Southern this Friday November 7 at LCC.  Kickoff is 7:30. Pregame on the Bulldog begins at 6:45.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will play at Williamsburg this Friday in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

LADY COUGARS WIN 14TH REGION VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars have reclaimed the top spot in 14th Region Volleyball as they beat Hazard last night 3-0 in the tournament championship game.  Lady Cougar Senior Sara Baker was named tournament MVP.  The Lady Cougars have won the 14th Region 9 of the 10 years of their existence.  Hazard won it all last year in 2013.  The Lady Cougars will now advance to the state volleyball tournament to play McCracken County from Region 1 on Friday November 7th at Valley High School in Louisville.  Congratulations to Coach Betty Von Caudill, her staff and the LCC Lady Cougars.  

FINAL WEEK OF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL REGULAR SEASON

High School Football had a handful of early games played last night across the region.  

Bell County beat Harlan County 35-14
Middlesboro over Lynn Camp 46-7
North Laurel beat Grant County 34-21
South Laurel knocked off Leslie County 47-29
and Wayne County beat Rockcastle County 28-14

Tonight, the Letcher County Central Cougar Football team will wrap up the regular season tonight with a road game at Breathitt County in Jackson.  Kickoff at 7:30pm.  Appalachian WIreless Pregame here on the Bulldog begins at 6:45.  The Cougars will then open the post season with a home playoff game against Madison Southern on Friday November 7.  

The Jenkins Cavaliers will wrap up their regular season at Betsy Layne this Friday with kickoff at 7:30.  Jenkins will play Williamsburg next Friday in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

LCMS FOOTBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

The Region 3 Division 3 champion, Letcher County Central Middle School Cougars football team beat Caldwell County 30-0 in the state semi-finals Saturday afternoon at Lexington Catholic.  The Cougars then advanced to the Division 3 state championship game where they took on Christian Academy of Louisville Sunday at Bryan Station High School in Lexington.  The LCMS Cougars lost to CAL 40-14.  Congrats to the coaching staff and the Cougars on being Division 3 State Runner Up!  

Other mountain teams did well in the middle school state tournament:
Belfry won division II
Corbin won division 1 and
Johnson County won the 7th grade division.


LCC LADY COUGARS IN THE VOLLEYBALL STATE TOURNAMENT

LCC & MOUNTAIN FOOTBALL

The Letcher County Central Cougar Football team went to Jackson Friday night and wrapped up the regular season with a 49-20 win over Breathitt County.   The Cougars only led 28-20 at halftime but great defense and the running of Jaylyn Williams pushed them to victory.  Williams finished with almost 170 yards rushing and 4 TD's.  Zane Blair had 3 TD's for the Cougars, 2 on the ground and 1 on a pass to Tanner Lucas.  LCC finishes the regular season at 8-2 with 6 wins in a row. The Cougars will now openthe post season with a home playoff game against Madison Southern this Friday November 7.  Kickoff is 7:30. Pregame on the Bulldog begins at 6:45.

The Jenkins Cavaliers will play at Williamsburg this Friday in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

After losing on the road to Missouri 20-10 Saturday, the 5-4 UK Wildcats football team will be back home this Saturday to face the Georgia Bulldog at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington.   Gametime is 12 noon with pre-game at 10:30am here on the Bulldog.

We'll have the UK Coach Mark Stoops Show tonight at 6:00pm on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The UK Basketball team beat UPike 116-68 last night in the first of 2 exhibiiton games at Rupp Arena.  The Cats will play Georgetown COllege of KY this SUnday at 7:00pm before beginning the regular season on Nov 14th against Grand Canyon in the Cawood Ledford CLassic in Lexington.

LCC vs. HAZARD PLAY IN THE 14TH REGION VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TONIGHT

It will be the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars taking on the Hazard Lady Bulldog for the 14th Region Volleyball tournament championship tonight.

Last night in the semi-finals Letcher County Central beat Leslie County 3-0 and Hazard knocked off Jackson City 3-0.

Tonight's Volleyball 14th Region championship game between LCC and Hazard begins at 7:00pm at Knott County Central High School.
