HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Jenkins Cavaliers & Lady Cavaliers lost close games in a double header at J.I. Burton in Norton, VA last night.   

The Lady Cavaliers lost to J.I. Burton 74-71 and the Cavalier boys lost 71-67.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys will play Knott County Central at home in a district game tomorrow(Thursday).

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will play 3 games in 3 days this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at LCC in the Whitesbug ARH Christmas Classic.  They play Harlan County first on Thursday at 6:00pm.  

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are hosting the Whitesburg ARH Christmas Classic Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Harlan County, Breathitt County and Jenkins.

The LCC girls first game of the classic will be against Breathitt County Thursday at 7:30.  We'll broadcast that game live here on the Bulldog with Appalachian Wireless Pre-game starting at 7.

The 5-1 Letcher County Central Cougar boys basketball team will play this Friday and Saturday in the Hyden Bank Christmas Tournament at Leslie County.  They will play Meade County on Friday along with Red Bird and Leslie County on Saturday.  

UK BASKETBALL

The #1 and 11-0 Kentucky Wildcats are off this week and won't play again until this Saturday when they take on UCLA in Chicago.  Game time Saturday is 3:30 with pre-game at 2 on 103.9 The Bulldog.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are now 3-3 after losing to Leslie County at home last night 57-50.  Leslie County is unbeaten at 6-0.  The Lady Cougars were led in scoring by Cheyenne Stidham with 16 and Courtney Brock had 14.  Katie Moore had 24 for Leslie County.  Up next for the LCC girls will be hosting the ARH Christmas Tournament at LCC Thursday, Friday and Saturday with Harlan County, Jenkins and Breathitt County.  They will open with Breathitt County Thursday at 7:30.  We'll have the game on the Bulldog with Appalachian Wireless Pre-game starting at 7.

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys basketball team began the new basketball season on the road at Harlan County last night.  
The Black Bears beat the Cougars 69-52.

Up next for the LCC Cougar boys and Lady Cougars, will be a Boys/Girls doubleheader at home against Jackson City this Friday.  The boys play at 6 and the girls around 7:30.

The LCC boys also play Pike County Central at home Saturday night.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys will next play at Jackson City Thursday night at 7:30.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will face Riverside Christian at home in their next game this Friday at 7:00pm.

Jenkins Lady Cavalier Whitney Creech had 54 points and 13 rebounds on 83% shooting in the Lady Cavs season opening win on the road at Pikeville Monday night. Jenkins won 76-71. The junior is less than 100 points away from the 3000 point mark in her high school career.

Our first broadcast of the new basketball season will be this Monday December 8 as we bring you the LCC Lady Cougars game against Betsy Layne at LCC.  Game time is 8:00pm.  Appalachian Wireless Pre-game begins at 7:30.


UK BASKETBALL PLAYS FRIDAY

The #1, 7-0, UK Wildcats will be back in action Friday night against Texas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.  The game between the Cats and Longhorns will be at Rupp Arena in Lexington with Tipoff at 7:00pm.  Pre-game begins at 5:30 here on the Bulldog.



HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES THIS WEEKEND

The State High School Football Championship games are set this Friday and Saturday at LT Smith Stadium on the campus of Western KY University in Bowling Green.


On Friday at 11am in Class 3A Belfry takes on Louisville Central
At 2:30pm DeSales plays Newport Central Catholic in the 2A championship game
and at 6:00pm Friday in Class 5A Pulaski County will battle Graves County

The other 3 games will be Saturday

At 11:00am Mayfield will take on Williamsburg in Class A
2:30pm Saturday, in Class 4A Owensboro will face Highlands
and at 6:00pm Saturday in 6A Trinity plays Dixie Heights.

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Letcher County Central Cougar boys basketball team has won 5 in a row now after beating Belfry on Saturday night 72-69 in Overtime.  The 5-1 Cougars will next play this Friday and Saturday in the Hyden Bank Christmas Tournament at Leslie County.  They will play Meade County on Friday along with Red Bird and Leslie County on Saturday.  

The Jenkins Cavalier boys team is even on the year at 3-3 after losing to Shelby Valley at home on Friday 90-55.   The next game for Jenkins will be at J.I. Burton in Norton VA Tuesday night, as part of a boys/girls double header.    

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are 3-2 after a win and loss this weekend.  The Lady Cougars beat Jenkins on the road in a district game Friday 73-61 but lost to Bell County at home Saturday afternoon 51-46.   The LCC Lady Cougars have another tough game tonight as they welcome in the 14th Region pre-season favorite Leslie County Lady Eagles.  JV begins at 6 with varsity at 7:30.  We'll bring you tonight's LCC-Leslie County girls game here on the Bulldog.  Appalachian Wireless pre-game begins at 7.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are now 3-2 after the loss to LCC on Friday.  They will play at J.I. Burton in Norton Tuesday night as part of the boys/girls double header.  

UK WILDCAT BASKETBALL

The #1 Kentucky Wildcats are now 11-0 after knocking off North Carolina at home on Saturday 84-70.  The Cats won't play again until this Saturday when they take on UCLA in Chicago.  Game time Saturday is 3:30 with pre-game at 2 on 103.9 The Bulldog.    We'll also have the Coach Cal radio show with Tom Leach tonight at 6:00pm here on the Bulldog.

The 8-2 CLASS 5A District 8 #1 seed Letcher County Central Cougar Football team will battle DIstrict 7 #4 seed, the
6-4 Madison Southern Eagles, led by highly recruited star running back back, Damien Harris in the opening round of the playoffs tonight at LCC.  Kickoff is 7:30. AW Cougar Countdown Pregame on the Bulldog begins at 6:45.

For Letcher County Central fans, all reserved season ticket holders seats will be honored, as well as their parking pass, but LCC season ticket holders will have to pay the $5.00 game admission price for a KHSAA post-season ticket.

LCC VOLLEYBALL IN STATE TOURNAMENT

The 14th Region Volleyball champion, the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will play today in the state volleyball tournament as they take on McCracken County from Region 1 this morning at 11am at Valley High School in Louisville.  The State Volleyball Tournament runs through Sunday.

LCC CROSS COUNTRY BOYS AND GIRLS AT STATE MEET

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams will compete this Saturday in the State Cross Country Meet  at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington..  The girls are Region champions, finishing 1st overall and the boys finished 2nd overall at Owsley County this past Saturday.

UK FOOTBALL

The 5-4 UK Wildcats football team will be back home this Saturday to face the Georgia Bulldogs at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington in the final home game of 2014.   Kickoff is 12 noon with pre-game at 10:30am here on the Bulldog.

UK BASKETBALL

The UK Basketball team will play Georgetown College of KY this Sunday at 7:00pm in the 2nd exhibition game of the year before opening the regular season on Nov 14th against Grand Canyon in the Cawood Ledford Classic in Lexington.
