The Boys Sweet 16 Basketball State Tournament got underway yesterday at Rupp Arena in Lexington.   In the opening round all mountain matchup , the 14th Region champion Perry County Central Commodores beat 15th Region champion the PIkeville Panthers in game #2 of the day 61-46.  Pikeville end their season at 23-9.  13th Region champion, the Harlan County Black Bears, making their first ever state tournament appearance lost to Scott High School 77-65.  Harlan County ends their season at 31-4.  Also yestereday Bowling Green knocked off Graves County 68-51 and Scott County beat Pulaski County 83-54.  Perry County Central is the only mountain team left and will play Scott High School Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the quarterfinals. 

4 more opening round games will be played today with Fern Creek taking on Hopkinsville at 12 noon, Ballard against Taylor County at 1:30, then tonight at 6:30 it's Elliot County vs. Collins and Cooper takes on Meade County at 8.

The quarterfinals are Friday, semi-s on Saturday and championship game Sunday.  You can listen to every game of the Boys Sweet 16 state tournament on CBS Sports Radio AM 920 WTCW. 

The The Letcher County Central Cougars baseball team will be back in action today when they play at Harlan County at 6pm.  The Cougars will then play at Pikeville Friday at 6 andat Middlesboro Saturday at 2pm.

The Jenkins Cavaliers baseball will play next on Friday at home against Buckhorn at 6pm followed by a district game at home against Letcher County Central Monday at 5:30.

Letcher County Central Lady Cougar softball  opens their season  this Saturday March 18th at Belfry. The Lady Cougars will play Henry Clay at 11am then Belfry at 1.   Jenkins Lady Cavalier softball will begin tonight with a doubleheader on the road at Tug Valley West Virginia in Williamson with first game at 6. 

The #2 UK Wildcats will begin play in the NCAA Tournament South Region when they face #15 seed Northern KY in Indianapolis tomorrow night at 9:30pm.  Pre-game will start around 8pm here on the Bulldog. 

The No. 18 and 4th seeded UK women’s basketball team will face 13th-seeded Belmont in the first round of the Womens NCAA Tournament tomorrow, Friday , at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington with tipoff at 12 Noon ET.
