Congratulations to the Letcher County Central Boys and Girls Track Teams as both placed 1st at the Area 9 DIstrict Meet on Saturday at Leslie County.   The girls won 1st place, beating Leslie County by 5 points and the boys tied for 1st with Leslie County.  Jenkins Boys placed 2nd.   The Region meet will be May 10th at Leslie County and the State meet will be Memorial Day weekend at UK in Lexington.

The Jenkins Lady Cavalier made an appearance in the All A State Softball Tournament on Saturday for the 8th consecutive year.   The Lady Cavaliers beat Middlesboro in 9 innings 11-9 in game one but then lost to Walton Verona 10-3 and Green County 11-0 in the double elimination tournament.   LIvingston Central won the State Softball Title on Sunday beat Louisville Holy Cross 10-0 in th Championship Game.  The Pikeville Lady Panthers made it to the state semi-finals before losing to the eventual state champ  Livingston Central.   

Jenkins is 17-4 overall and will get right back at it today with a game at Perry County Central.  First pitch is at 6:00pm.   The Lady Cavaliers will host Letcher County Central on Tuesday starting at 6:00pm.  
The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars went 2-1 in the Wizard of Ozz Classic hosted by LCC on Friday and Saturday.
 
The Lady Cougars beat Belfry 8-1 and Shelby Valley 9-2 on Friday night.   They lost to East Ridge 12-5 on Saturday.    The 8-8 Lady Cougars will have a home doubleheader against Cordia this afternoon at 6:00 and 7:30pm.

In high school baseball,  the Letcher County Central Cougars won both games they played in the 3rd Annual Buddy Roe Invitational.    The Cougars beat Harlan County 3-1 and Estill County 10-7.    Counting a double header forfeit from June Buchanan, the Cougars have won 7 in row and stand at 15-8 overall.   The game scheduled Friday against Breathitt County at home was postponed and will be made up today at LCC beginning at 6:00pm.
 
The Jenkins Cavaliers will be at home to play Shelby Valley this afternoon at 6:00pm.

After winning 7 of 9 games, the Reds were swept by the Braves in Atlanta this weekend.  They lost Friday 5-4, 4-1 on Saturday and 1-0 on Sunday.  The Reds are now 11-14 in 3rd place 7 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central.  The Reds are back home after the 10 game road trip to face the Cubs for three to wrap up April.   Game time tonight is 7:10 for the Reds-Cubs.  Pre-game begins at 6:40 on AM 920.
