In a battle at John C. Combs Arena at Perry County Central HS last night, the Knott County Central Patriots beat the Hazard Bulldogs 49-47 in the 14th Region Tournament Championship game to claim their 3rd straight Region Title and their 4th in the last 5 years.  

Knott Central came from 17 down to get the win and advance to next week's KHSAA Whitaker Bank Boys Sweet 16 State Tournament at Rupp Arena.  

The Patriots will play Bowling Green out of Region 4 next Thursday afternoon at 1:30pm.

Johnson Central also claimed their 3rd straight 15th Region title as they beat Shelby Valley 81-56 in the Championship game last night at the Expo Center.

Johnson Central will play Campbell County in round one of the Sweet 16 at 8pm next Wednesday.  

Clay County won the boys 13th Region championship Monday night and will take on Covington Catholic in the final opening round game of the state tournament next Thursday at 8:00pm.

The Girls Sweet 16 State Tournament begins today at Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.  

Today's games will be at 1:00pm Eastern Ashland Blazer against Henderson County, at 2:30pm today Danville will play 15th Region Champion, the Shelby Valley Lady Wildcats.

Tonight at 6:30, it's Butler and Newport Central Catholic and at 8:00pm Lafayette takes on Glasgow.

14th Region champ, Perry County Central will play Marshall County tomorrow at 1:00pm.

13th Region Champ, the Corbin Lady Redhounds will take on George Rogers Clark out of Winchester Thursday at 2:30pm.

Congratulations to the Letcher Middle School Lady Eagles as they won the County A team Volleyball Tournament last night.  

2nd place went to Fleming-Neon, Cowan was 3rd and Whitesburg came in 4th.

The Reds lost again in Spring Training Cactus League play yesterday.   They lost to the SF Giants 8-5.

The next game will be today at 4:05 against the Rockies.

Letcher County Central Cougar Baseball begins the 2014 season this Monday March 17th!

The Cougars will take on Leslie County in the opener in a home game with first pitch at 6:00pm.

All LCC students will get in FREE on opening day and be sure to wear BLUE!!

The Jenkins Boys open their season Tuesday March 18th at home against Phelps.

The LCC Girls Softball opens March 31st at South Floyd.

The Jenkins Girls Softball will open Monday March 17th at Hazard.

The SEC Tournament begins today in Atlanta and the winner of the LSU-Alabama game on Thursday will play #2 seed Kentucky Friday night at 7:00pm.
