The boys and girls 53rd District Championship games went down to the wire Friday and Saturday at Knott County Central.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars won the Girls district championship game Friday night 61-58 over Knott County Central.

The Lady Cougars withstood a furious comeback by the Lady Patriots to win a 3rd straight district championship.

In the boys championship game Saturday, the Knott County Central Patriots beat the Cordia Lions 62-60.  

Knott Central came back from 18 down to get the win and claim their 5th straight district championship.

The Boys and Girls 14th Region tournaments get underway this week.

The Girls opening round games will be Monday and Tuesday, semi-finals on Friday and championship game on Saturday, all at Leslie County High School in Hyden.

Tonight's two girls games will be Powell County and Jackson City at 6:30pm, followed by Letcher County Central against Leslie County, in maybe the toughest first round game, starting at 8:15.  

Weather permitting, we'll bring you the LCC-Leslie County game live here on the Bulldog with pre-game this evening around 7:45.

Tuesday night in the girls tournament at 6:30pm Perry County Central plays Knott County Central and Breathitt County takes on Lee County around 8:15.

The Boys 14th Region Tournament begins with opening round games Wednesday and Thursday, semi-finals Monday and championship next Tuesday all at Perry County Central.

Wednesday at 6:30pm, Breathitt County plays Estill County and at 8:15 Knott County Central battles Perry County Central.

Thursday night at 6:30pm it's Hazard and Cordia followed by Powell County against Wolfe County at 8:15.

The Cincinnati Reds are now 3-2 in Spring Training after picking up wins Saturday over the Rockies 3-2 and Sunday 15-4 over the Padres.  

They will play the Mariners this afternoon in Arizona.  

First pitch is at 3:05pm, pre-game at 2:50 on AM 920 WTCW.  

The Reds regular season schedule begins March 31st against the St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park.  


The KY Wildcats lost to last place South Carolina on the road Saturday 72-67 to give them back to back losses and the Cats 3rd loss in 5 games.  

They are now 21-8 overall and 11-5 in SEC play.  

We'll have the Coach Cal Show with Tom Leach tonight at 6:00pm on the Bulldog, followed by Big Blue Weekly at 7.

The Cats have 2 game left in the regular season and will next play Alabama at Rupp Arena Tuesday night at 9:00pm.
