The Whitesburg Middle School boys basketball A team competed in the KBA state middle school tournament in Lexington this past weekend and finished in the final 8 of their region.

Whitesburg finished in the top 32 out of 80 middle schools.

Also, the Jackets competed in the BCI 7th grade State Tournament a couple weeks ago and finished state runner up.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys got a win over Pike County Central 55-44 last night on senior night at LCC.  

Seniors Josh Owens, Kyler Lucas and Chippy Frazier along with 5 cheerleaders and 3 dance team members were recognized before the game.

Owens led the Cougars in scoring  with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.   Chippy Frazier added 13.

The Cougar boys have added an extra game to the schedule and will finish the regular season tonight as they play Oneida Baptist at home.  

The Mountaineers feature former Cougar player Sam Robinson and are coached by his dad David Robinson.  

Tonight's game times are different than normal with JV at 5 and Varsity at 6:30.

103.9 The Bulldog will broadcast the LCC-OBI boys game tonight.

Appalachian Wireless Pre-Game will begin at 6.

Jenkins boys lost to Buckhorn on the road last night 88-47.  The Cavaliers will play  Betsy Layne tonight at home to wrap up the regular season.

Knott County Central beat Shelby Valley 73-61 and Whitley County over Harlan County 57-50.

Girls high school scores from last night:

Jenkins blasted Pike County Central 89-51.  

The Lady Cavaliers will finish the regular season tonight at home against Betsy Layne in boys/girls doubleheader starting at 6.

Also Knott County Central beat Hazard 62-54 last night.  

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars have wrapped up the season at 19-7 and will play Wednesday of next week in the 53rd District Tournament.

The 53rd District Boys & Girls Tournaments will be held next week, starting Monday, at Knott County Central.

There are 2 games on Monday, 2 on Tuesday, 2 Wednesday, the Girls championship on Friday and the Boys championship on Saturday.

Letcher County Central Boys and Girls will host the KHSAA Region 12 Archery Tournament, tomorrow, on Saturday.  

It all begins at 8:00am at LCC.

The UK Wildcats are back in action tomorrow, Saturday, at home as they take on the LSU Tigers.  

Tipoff time is 4:00pm with Pre-Game at 2:30 Saturday afternoon here on the Bulldog.
