It went to double overtime but the Letcher County Central Cougars came up one point shy in the upset bid against the Cordia Lions in last night's boys high school basketball game at LCC.

In the game you heard live on the Bulldog.  The Cougars got down to Cordia by 17 at one point in the game before climbing back into it after halftime and ending up tied at 59 all at the end of regulation.

The score was tied 64 all at the end of the the first overtime.

The Cougars Jordan Gregory missed a shot with about 4 seconds to go in double overtime and Cordia held on for the 69-68 win.

The Cougars were led by Josh Owens with 24, 22 of those coming in the 2nd half.  Chippy Frazier had 23 before fouling out.

The Cougars fall to 12-8 with the loss and will next face Estill County on the road at Irvine Saturday afternoon.   

The freshmen play at 1, JV at 2 and Varsity at 3:30.

Hazard beat Breathitt County 58-51
and Knott County Central over June Buchanan 83-51

The 3-11 Jenkins Cavalier boys will play Jackson City at home tonight in their next game.  

JV at 6 with varsity at 7:30.

The 13-6 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will next play Knott County Central in a district game at home tonight with JV at 6 and varsity at 7:30.

The Lady Cougars beat Knott Central at Hindman earlier in the year 59-43.

The 13-6 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers are back in action tonight at Cordia in a district game.  Tipoff is 6:00pm.

The UK Wildcats are back on the court tomorrow, Saturday, against Georgia at Rupp Arena in Lexington.  

Tipoff is 1:30.
