The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys basketball team evened their record to 2-2 last night with a win over Phelps 73-51 at LCC.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Senior Josh Owens, who had 19 along with 7 rebounds.  Freshmen Torrell Carter had 11.

The Cougars were scheduled to play at Belfry on Saturday but that game has been moved to tonight and will still be played at Belfry. 

Gametime for the Cougars & Pirates will be 8:00pm and varsity only.  

Also last night in boys mountain high school basketball:

Knott County Central beat June Buchanan 66-36
Oneida Baptist 67 Leslie County 59
and in OT, Sheldon Clark 65 Johnson Central 64

Tonight, Jenkins boys will play at Shelby Valley and Hazard is at Perry County Central.

Last night in Girls High School basketball games in the mountains:

Knott County Central over June Buchanan 61-43
Powell County over Hazard 65-45
and Shelby Valley beat Belfry 57-20.

103.9 The Bulldog will bring you a big Girls basketball game tonight as the 1-1 Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will tangle with the 5-0 Jenkins Lady Cavaliers at LCC in a cross county & district matchup.  

Game time is 7:30pm with pregame at 7:00 here on the Bulldog or at  

The game before at 6:00pm will be Knott County Central taking on LCC in a freshmen game.

LCC girls will play at Bell County Saturday at 3:30 and Jenkins will play at Pike County Central Monday at 6.


The Letcher County Central Archery Team, boys and girls, will compete in a local shoot at Fleming Neon Middle School Gym on Saturday.  Varsity shoots at 9:00am with JV at 3:00pm.


The LCC Wrestling Team will be competing at Johnson Central tomorrow, Saturday morning at 9:00am.


Best wishes to the the LCC Lady Cougar Cheerleading Squad, they will compete Saturday in the KHSAA Cheer Championships at the KY Horse Park in Lexington.  It begins at 10:00am.


Tomorrow afternoon The #11 ranked UK Wildcats will be on the road in Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tarheels.

Game time is at 5:15pm with pregame at 3:30 here on the Bulldog.
