Josh Owens had 29 points and 11 rebounds and Chippy Frazier nailed 4 three's and put in 20 points to lead the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys to a 14th Region win over Jackson City at home Thursday night.

The Cougars, who are now 1-1 beat the Tigers 68-58 in the game heard live on 103.9 The Bulldog.

Also last night in boys mountain high school basketball:
Cordia beat Buckhorn 56-52
Hazard over Owsley County 77-32

The LCC Cougar boys are right back in action tonight with their first road game.

They will take on the Corbin Redhounds in the Big Red Shootout being played at Clay County High School.  Game time is 6:00pm.

The other game in the Big Red Shootout is Clay County taking on South Laurel.

The Jenkins Cavalier boys will also play tonight on the road at Jackson City with tip off at 6:00pm.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers and the Letcher County Central Lady Cougars are both back in action tonight.

Jenkins Girls will take on Cordia in a district game tonight in their home opener.

Gametime is 6:00pm.

The LCC Lady Cougars will be on the road at Jackson City tonight.  It's varsity only with tipoff at 8:00pm.

The Lady Cougars home game scheduled for Saturday against Scott County has been postponed and has been rescheduled for January 20th.


The LCC Cougar wrestling team will compete with Pike Central and other teams @ North Point Academy in Pike County tomorrow,  Saturday,  at 1:00pm.


The 2013 KHSAA High School Football State Championship games will be played today and tomorrow, weather permittting, at  LT Smith Stadium in Bowling Green.

Today's 3 championship games will be in Class A Mayfield taking on Williamsburg at 11:00am.

Unbeaten Wayne County takes on Belfry in 3A this afternoon at 3:00pm.  

Tonight  at 7:00pm Meade County will battle Scott County for the 6A championship.

On Saturday at 11:00am the Class 2A championship game will be DeSales against Newport Central Catholic.  

At 3:00pm tomorrow Collins takes on Highlands in the 4A championship game and then at 7:00pm Bowling Green battles unbeaten Pulaski County for the 5A championship.  


Tonight on the Bulldog it a mens/womens mega double header for the UK Wildcat Mens and Women as they both take on Baylor at AT & T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

All 4 teams are ranked in the top 25.

We'll bring you both games tonight.

The women play first at 7:30pm with the men's tipoff around 10:00pm.
