Round 2 of the KHSAA high school football playoffs are in the books and the season has ended for several mountain teams while others move one step closer to a state championship.

In Class A, Thursday night, Pikeville beat Allen Central 49-14.

On Friday night in Class A
Hazard knocked off Campbellsville 34-8
Raceland beat Paintsville 42-12
and Williamsburg blanked Pineville 42-0

In Class 2A

Somerset outlasted Middlesboro 19-13 in OT
and Prestonsburg held off Danville 20-13

In Class 3A

Belfry blasted Lawrence County 42-6
Pike County Central beat Breathitt County 26-20
Bell County came up short against Louisville Central losing 14-11
and Wayne County bounced Corbin 36-0

In Class 4A

Johnson Central's unbeaten season ends with a 42-14 loss to Covington Catholic

and in Class 5A

Madison Southern knocked off the Black Bears of Harlan County  41-28
and Pulaski County blasted Perry County Central 43-0.

8 teams are left in each class as the Region Championship games will be held this Friday.

The State Championship games will be held in Bowling Green Friday and Saturday December 6 and 7.


High School Basketball season is just around the corner.

The Letcher County Central Cougar Boys will open the season at home on December 3rd against Harlan County.

The Jenkins Cavalier Boys open up under new coach Pat Jervis on December 3rd with a district game at Knott County Central.

The defending 14th Region Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will begin play on December 2nd at Johnson Central.

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers will open the new season at J.I. Burton in Wise County also on December 3rd.


The UK Basketball Cats are now 3-1 after knocking off Robert Morris at Rupp Arena last night in the Bill Keightly classic.   The final was 87-49.

The Cats will next play Tuesday at home against Texas-Arlington also in the Keightly Classic.   

Tipoff is at 7:30pm.  Pregame begins at 6:00pm here on 103.9 The Bulldog.

The UK Football Cats lost on the road in Nashville to the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday afternoon 22-6.

The Cats are back on the road at Georgia this Saturday.  

Kickoff is 7:00pm with pregame at 5:30pm.
