The Letcher County Central Boys & Girls Cross Country Teams are Region Champions.

Both teams won the region on Saturday afternoon at Fairview High School in Ashland in the KHSAA Class 2A Region 7 Cross Country Meet.

They will compete this weekend in the KHSAA State Cross Country Meet at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.


The Letcher County Central Cougar football team finishes the regular season with a 4-6 overall record after losing to Breathitt County Friday night.

The Cougars placed 3rd in Class 5A District 8 and will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs this Friday night.

The Cougars will take on Class 5A District 7 2nd place team Madison Southern in Berea.

Kickoff is at 7:30pm.  

We'll broadcast the LCC=Madison Southern game here on 103.9 The Bulldog with pre game at 6:45pm.


Also the Jenkins Cavaliers will be on the road to take on Williamsburg this Friday night in the first round of the playoffs.

In the last of 2 exhibition games, the UK Wildcat beat Montevallo College last night 95 to 72.

Julius Randle led the Cats with 21 points and 11 rebounds, giving him a double-double in both exhibition games.

The Cats will open the regular season against UNC Asheville this Friday at 7:00pm at Rupp Arena.  

The Mark Stoops UK football coaches show and Big Blue Nightly will air this Wednesday at 6:00pm.

The football Cats will get back into SEC play this coming Saturday as they will take on the Missouri Tigers at home.  

Kickoff is at 12 noon.
