Congratulations to the Letcher Middle School Lady Eagles!

They won the LCEAA GIrls A Team County Basketball Championship at Letcher County Central HS on Sunday afternoon beating Fleming Neon Middle School.

The Lady Pirates took the runner up spot.

Congrats to all teams Letcher, Fleming Neon, Whitesburg and Cowan on a great tournament and season.

The Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Soccer Team will play Lawrence County  this Tuesday night, October 29 at 7:00pm in a semi-state game and it will be held at Letcher County Central.

It's the opening round game of the KHSAA Girls Soccer Sweet 16 State Tournament.

Admission is $7.00, set by the KHSAA, not the host school.

The winner advancing to play in the Elite 8 in Lexington at Lafayette High School on Saturday, November 2.

Congratulations to Coach Betty Acevedo, Asst. Chris Schulz and the Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Soccer Team on winning the 14th Region Girls Soccer Championship.
 
Congratulations are also in order for Carlie Combs, Meg Raleigh, Kelsey Cornett, and Brittany Buttrey as they were named to the 14th Region All - Tournament Team and to Brooke Kincer as she was selected the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

The 14th Region Volleyball Tournament gets underway tonight at Powell County High School in Stanton with 2 games.

At 6:00pm Jackson City will take on Knott County Central and Powell County plays Leslie County at 7:30pm

Tuesday night at Powell County,  Hazard battles Wolfe County at 6:00pm and 53rd District Champion the Letcher County Central Cougars will take on Owsley County at 7:30pm.

The Semi-finals will be Wednesday with the championship game on Thursday, all at Powell County in the 14th Region Volleyball Tournament.

Letcher County Central JV Football Team will play Belfry on tonight at 6:00pm at home on LCC Cougar Field.

The LCC Cougar Varsity football team lost at Whitley County Friday night 44-20.

With the loss the Cougars fall to 4-5 on the season and 1-2 in district play.

There is now a 3 way tie for 2nd in the district but depending on this week's games, the Cougars will finish 3rd or 4th and will be on the road for the first round of the playoffs in 2 weeks.

The Cougars will wrap up the regular season with Breathitt County this Friday at home.  It will be senior night for LCC football.  Kick off is set for 7:30pm.

Breathitt County knocked off Knott County Central 42-20
Betsy Layne beat Shelby Valley 31-6
