It's going to be a busy night in sports across the area with the girls county middle school tournament opening round, boys and girls soccer region tournament finals and the UK wildcats football team in action.

But first, congratulations to Coach Betty Von Caudill and the Letcher County Central Lady Cougar Volleyball team.

They won the 53rd District Championship last night at Knott County Central in Hindman by beating the Knott Central Lady Patriots 3-0.   

The scores were 25-9, 25-10 and 25-11.

It was the 9th straight Volleyball District championship for LCC.

They will now move on to the 14th Region Tournament.

The Girls LCEAA Middle School A Team County Basketball Tournament gets underway tonight.

The two games this evening will be played at Letcher Middle School Gym.

Game one will be at 6:00pm as Fleming Neon goes against Cowan then Letcher takes on Whitesburg at 7:30pm.

The Consolation and Championship game will be Sunday at Letcher County Central High School Gym.

The consolation game will be at 2:00pm with the championship game at 3:30pm.

The Boys & Girls 14th Region Soccer Tournament Championship Games will be played tonight at Letcher County Central.

In the first title game at 6:00pm, Estill County will face the 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars at 6:00pm.

Estill County will play Perry County Central in the Boys Soccer 14th Region Championship Game tonight at 8:00pm also at Letcher County Central.

The 4-4 Letcher County Central Cougar Football team will be back in action against the 0-8 Whitley County Colonels on the road this Friday in their final district game.  

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm from Williamsburg.   

We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog with pregame starting at 6:45pm.

With a win on Friday and a Harlan County win over Perry County Central,  the Cougars would see their first home playoff game since 2009.

The UK Wildcats will have a special Thursday night game this week as they take on Mississippi State on the road in Starkville.  

Kickoff is at 7:30pm tonight with Countdown to Kickoff at 6:00pm this evening here on 103.9 The Bulldog.
