The 2013 season has ended for the Letcher County Central Cougar Boys Soccer team.

They lost 5-0 to Estill County last night in the 14th Region Tournament at Letcher County Central.

Congrats to Coach Joe Roberts and the Cougar Boys Soccer team.

They finish the season at 13-8.

The other game last night had Perry Central shutting out Jackson City 6-0.

Estill County will now play Perry County Central for the 14th Region Championship Thursday at 8:00pm at Letcher County Central.

The girls 14th Region Soccer Tournament gets underway tonight.

Estill County will play Perry County Central tonight at 7:00pm at LCC.

The winner of tonight's game will face the 53rd District Champion Letcher County Central Lady Cougars in the 14th Region Championship Thursday at 6:00pm at Letcher County Central.  

The Lady Cougars received a bye to the championship game.


The Letcher County Central Boys & Girls Cross Country teams competed in the Area 9 Championship Meet Saturday at Harlan County.

Bailey Kincer won the Elementary Race.

Nick Spangler was Runner-up in the Middle School Race.

Kacey Troutt won the Girls JV Race and Blake Watts won the Boys JV Race.

The Varsity Girls placed 2nd behind Harlan Co, and received a Runner-up Trophy.

The Lady Cougars were lead by Seniors Leanna Bryant and Keshia Balthis.

The Boys Team won 1st place overall and received a First place Trophy. The Cougars have been Area 9 Champions 6 years in a row.

The Boys Varsity team was lead by Senior Chase Cates and Junior Trevor Wayne.

The Cougars placed 5 boys in the top ten, Chase Cates and Trevor Wayne led the entire race placing First and Second overall.

The Top Ten in each race received medals.


The 53rd District Volleyball Tournament begins tonight at Knott County Central Gym in Hindman.

Two games will be played this evening.

At 6:00pm the #1 seed Letcher County Central Lady Cougars will take on June Buchanan and around 7:00pm Knott County Central will face Jenkins.  

The Volleyball 53rd District championship game will be Wednesday at 6:00pm also at Knott County Central.


The Letcher County Central Cougar Football team is now 4-4 overall and 1-1 in the district after beating Perry County Central Friday night.

The Cougars will next face the winless Whitley County Colonels on the road this Friday in the final district game.  

Kickoff is set for 7:30pm from Williamsburg.   

We'll bring you the game on the Bulldog with pregame starting at 6:45pm.

With a win on Friday the Cougars would see their first home playoff game since 2009.  


The UK Wildcats will have a special Thursday night game this week as they take on Mississippi State on the road in Starkville.  Kickoff is at 7:30pm Thursday with pregame at 6:00pm.
