A man is dead after he was hit by a train Sunday in Letcher County.  Officials say 36-year-old Michael Shaun Fields was on foot when the CSX train struck him.  The CSX freight train came to a stop on the tracks behind the Isom shopping center on Kentucky Route 7.  When they got to the scene, investigators found 36-year-old Michael Shaun Fields dead.  "Preliminary impression is just multiple trauma due to being struck by the train," Letcher County Coroner Marty Baker said.  More questions remain as investigators work to find out why this deadly accident took place.  Fields's body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy. The coroner says he expects to have those results Monday.

Police are investigating after a roadway incident in Breathitt County led to one man attacking another with a knife and subsequently being shot. Police said a man ran another vehicle off Highway 15 near the Walmart in Jackson Friday morning. After running the other man off the road he approached and attacked him with a knife.  Police say his intended victim had a gun and shot his attacker, who then fled.  Police are not sure what led to the attack and shooting.

Kentucky State Police shot and killed 50-year-old Neil Saylor following an hours-long standoff. Police say he robbed the Coldiron(Cold-eye-ern)Dollar General Store late Friday night, stealing $250 cash and cigarettes at gunpoint. The incident is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police.

Marlow Tackett the well-known country music singer from Eastern Kentucky, has died. For 35 years, he organized "Marlow Tackett's Christmas for the Needy," which provided toys, clothes, furniture, and other necessities to thousands of area children.  Family and friends say Tackett never met a stranger, and would do anything he could to help anybody.

Officers with the Manchester Police Department are asking for help finding the people who stole three trash bags full of pills from a Clay County pharmacy Thursday. Police officers say they are working on a few leads. In the meantime, they are asking anyone with information to contact the dispatch office directly.

A woman involved in a collision with a school bus is now facing a DUI charge. Sherry Wilson was driving along "Dead Man's Curve" on Highway 38 and was going around the curve when she crossed the center line, side-swiping a school bus full of children. Though injuries were not reported, police say they consider the roadway one of the most dangerous in their jurisdiction. Wilson admits she was on prescribed nerve medication and Loratabs.

The Taylor County coroner confirms that a 19-year-old drowned while on a church outing in Green River Lake State Park. Jose Zambrano, of Lebanon, was found around 5 p.m. on Sunday. Zambrano was at Green River Lake for a baptismal service and church picnic. The coroner confirms he swam fifty feet away from the shore and drowned in twenty feet of water.
