An investigation is underway into what caused an overnight fire in Perry County. It happened around four Monday morning at the skating rink at Fugate's Entertainment Center on Highway 15 just outside Hazard. Firefighters tell us the building was a loss. We are told there was a home nearby that they were able to save. So far, no word on what might have started the fire. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.

One person is dead after a a single vehicle crash Monday afternoon in the Justiceville community of Pike County. Officials say it happened around 3 o'clock when the grey Ford Ranger that was traveling East on US 460 left the roadway hitting a residential fence and then went on to hit a cement wall head on. Police at the scene are looking into what may have caused the driver of the pickup truck to leave the road. The accident remains under investigation by Ketnucky State Police Post 9. Officials are not releasing the name of the victim at this time.

Police say a Pulaski County teenager has been arrested because he made threats against Southwestern High School. Police say a 15 year old student sent text messages saying the student was planning on shooting up the school and detonating fire bombs. The text messages had specific information to where the bombs were located inside the school. The student has been charged with terroristic threatening.

A quiet community in Johnson County turned into the scene of a nightmare for one Flatgap family. Two strangers were lurking around his home. His 13-year-old and 8-year-old daughters the only ones there. The girls called their dad. the men did get inside and his daughters hid in a crawl space. He said when he returned home he actually met the two men in his driveway leaving his home, but he says the only thing on his mind at that point in time was checking on his daughters. Thanks to a description by the 13-year-old deputies said they found the culprits. Christopher Shannon and Nigel Sparks both now face burglary charges.

The group Discover Downtown Middlesboro and National Park Service officials want to build a trail system connecting the city and the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.
They hope it will bring more visitors and boost the economy. Officials with Discover Downtown Middlesboro want to make it easier to get from the Cumberland Gap National Historical Park to downtown Middlesboro. The proposed trail could be used for walking or biking to go from downtown to the park hiking trails or go from the park to shops and restaurants in Middlesboro.

Students at Knott County Central High School are taking on one of Kentucky’s biggest problems: Hunger. One-hundred and 55 families have food on their table tonight thanks to the 2nd annual Patriot Food Drive, put on by the school’s leadership group. For six weeks, students from across Knott County donated about 5,000 food items for folks in their community. On Monday, students handed out three bags of food to anyone who drove up.
