A man was found dead from a gunshot wound over the weekend in Breathitt County.
The Breathitt County Coroner says 46-year-old Tommy Lee Smith is the victim of a homicide.
Smith was found dead Saturday morning in his trailer near Buckhorn.
Officials say there are no suspects at this time.
His body has been taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
Kentucky State Police are heading up the investigation.
Officials say a missing Leslie County man has been found safe on Sunday morning.
Leslie County Sheriff Deputy, Adrian Cornett says 80 year old Vernon Hoskins went missing on Friday in the Jack's Creek area around 10p.m.
Police say Hoskins has a heart condition and early stages of dementia.
Authorities say a Johnson County teenager was killed when he was struck on his motorcycle by an alleged drunk driver.
According to authorities, the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday on Kentucky 201 in Sitka just outside Paintsville.
Johnson County Sheriff Dwayne Price says a car crossed the center lane and hit the motorcycle head-on.
Coroner J.R. Frisby identified the victim as 18-year-old Casey Roger Mollett Jr.
Price says DUI charges are pending against the driver, and more charges are possible.
The IRS has filed a tax lien on an Eastern Kentucky jail.
The lien shows Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard owes more than $380,000.
Administrator Tim Kilburn said he was notified of some possible violations last week.
Kilburn thinks a mistake was made by the IRS and the lien will go away once the proper numbers are processed.
The jail has been under scrutiny since two guards were charged with beating an inmate to death last month.
Police have confirmed a stabbing happened in Cumberland Friday night.
There were three victims involved, at least two were airlifted to a hospital.
Police say no arrests have been made.
The stabbing happened on South Street but no other information was released.
A Harlan County elementary school principal is facing charges after being arrested on charges of driving under the influence.
Dispatchers say troopers pulled 48 year old Edwin Stewart over on Thursday afternoon around 2:30 near the Baxter post office.
Jail records show Stewart was arrested and charged with DUI, littering, drinking in a public place and possession of an open container in a vehicle.
Kentucky State Police trooper Jason Young arrested Stewart and said he had multiple beer cans in his car when he was pulled over.
Stewart, who is the principal at Black Mountain Elementary School, was released on a $7,500 bond Thursday afternoon.
Officials with Harlan County Schools have made no comment.
