Colson Baptist Church Back to Church Sunday

It's "Back to Church Sunday" at Colson Baptist Church on Sunday, September 21st.   There will be bluegrass gospel music with Bryan Goins & River Road beginning at 11:00am with a a festival like fun-filled afternoon of food and family activities after the service. Letcher County's Got Talent Mountain Heritage 2014

The Mountain Heritage Festival will once again sponsor Letcher County‚Äôs Got Talent!  The Festival Committee is looking for all kinds of talent, singers, dancers, musicians, jugglers, comedians, animal acts and the list goes on! They are looking for at least 20 acts to participate in the contest September 23-27. 5 different acts will perform daily with 1 winner chosen each night. Hemphill Baptist Church Home Coming Service

Home Coming Service will be held on Sunday September 28th at the Hemphill Baptist Church at Jackhorn.  It begins at 10:00am and features special singing by the Tools of the Carpenter.  The Pastor is Danny Hurst and everyone is welcome.

Letcher County Farmer's Swap and Trade Days

Introducing Letcher County Farmer's Swap and Trade Days to be held the 1st and 3rd Saturday's of every month May through September at the Letcher County Extension Office just off the Whitesburg bypass and Stone Avenue.  You are welcome to bring anything agriculture related to buy, swap and sell but no yard sale items will be allowed.  You can bring animals such as goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, geese, calves, quail chicks, laying hens, guineas, turkeys, sheep, eggs, trees, shrubs, country farm supplies, vegetable plants, buiding supplies and bee supplies.  Bring your own canopy and chairs.  Call Shad Baker or Crystal Sparks at the Extension Office3 633-2362 for more information. 

Carcassone Square Dance 2014

The Carcassone Community Center will have their famous square dance the 2nd Saturday of April, May, July, August, September and November.  It's the longest running square dance in Kentucky celebrating 45 years in 2014.  The square dance will feature Lee Sexton on old time banjo and calling by Erin Cokonougher-Stidham.  The doors open at 6:00pm with dancing from 7:00pm-9:00pm but come early.  There is a playground next door plus food and refreshments will be served.   Admission is $5.00 adults, $3.00 children and under 5 gets in free.  Everyone is invited and for more info call 633-7958.
