The Douglas Day Post 152 of the Whitesburg American Legion will have nomination of officers on Sunday April 27th at 1:00pm and election of officers on Sunday May 11th at 1:00pm. 

Millstone Missionary Baptist Church Easter Service and Singing

The Millstone Missionary Baptist Church will have a special singing and morning service on Easter Sunday, April 20th at 11:00am.  The Johnny Rains Family formerly of Common Ground and Standing Tall will be there.   Everyone is welcome.  Pastor Bill Craft welcomes everyone. 

Carcassone Square Dance 2014

The Carcassone Community Center will have their famous square dance the 2nd Saturday of April, May, July, August, September and November.  It's the longest running square dance in Kentucky celebrating 45 years in 2014.  The square dance will feature Lee Sexton on old time banjo and calling by Erin Cokonougher-Stidham.  The doors open at 6:00pm with dancing from 7:00pm-9:00pm but come early.  There is a playground next door plus food and refreshments will be served.   Admission is $5.00 adults, $3.00 children and under 5 gets in free.  Everyone is invited and for more info call 633-7958.

19th Annual Cornerstone Church Spring Teaching Seminar

The 19th Annual Cornerstone Church of Whitesburg Spring Teaching Seminar will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday April 25th, 26th and 27th.   The special services will feature on Friday night the 25th at 7:00pm,  Dr. Darrell Huffman, Pastor of New Life Church in Huntington, West Virginia.  Saturday night the 26th at 7:00pm, Evangalist Lawrence Bishop, Jr will be there from Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio and Sunday morning the 27th at 11:00am, it will be Evangalist Mike Manual with Revelation Power Ministries of Logan, West VA.  Everyone is welcome. The Pastor is Frank Holbrook. 

Mountain Heritage Festival 2014 Scholarships

The Mountain Heritage Festival Committee is now accepting applications for scholarships for the 2014 fall semester. There will be 4 scholarships awarded in the amount of $250.00 each. The scholarships are available to high school seniors and current college students. Applications must be returned by May 15, 2014.  The scholarship applications are available at www.mountainheritagefestival.com under the applications heading. Applications will also be available through the school’s guidance counselors or by calling Lee Anna Mullins at 633-9644.
