From Letcher County Court Clerk Winston Meade's Office:   For the May 20th Primary Election, the Fleming Precinct will vote at Fleming-Neon City Hall because the community center is closed.  For questions or info call 633-2432. 

Camp Nathanael Married Couples Retreat

Letcher County Conservation Office Tree Giveaway Spring 2014

The Letcher County Conversation District is continuing it's Free spring tree giveaway and trees will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.  They only have bur oak and hazelnut varieties left in stock.  The Conservation Office is open 8am-4pm Monday-Friday and is located at 125 Industrial Park Road at the old soccer fields near the foot of the hill next to Pine Mountain Lumber.  For more info call 633-4448.

Letcher County Homemaker Club Scholarship

The members of Letcher County Extension Homemaker Clubs are proud  to announce they will be sponsoring a $250.00 college scholarship to help a local  student continue their education for the coming fall semester.

The following are guidelines for the scholarship:

1. The recipient must live in Letcher County
2. They must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
3. They must be enrolled in or accepted by an accredited
college or university.
4. They must submit a letter requesting the scholarship, a
transcript of their high school grades and a brief
statement of their future plans.
5. The scholarship will be awarded by a Letcher County
Extension Homemaker Committee based on the items in
number four above.
6. The Committee’s decision will be final.

All the information requested in number four above must be submitted by May 1, 20014, to:

Rising Center in Hazard Info

The Rising Center, located at 637 Morton Boulevard in Hazard, provides medical and legal advocacy, crisis counseling and long term therapy to victims of sexual assault. Along with our fully trained staff, our agency depends of the dedication of loyal volunteers. Volunteers are needed in Letcher, Leslie, Lee, Owsley, Wolfe, Breathitt, Knott and Perry Counties.  Training to become of volunteer is free of charge and provided at The Rising Center in Hazard.
