There will be a parent meeting for parents of students going on the LCC senior trip Thursday, March 13, 2014, in the LCC front lobby. Parents can come anytime between 5:00-6:30. Please bring a copy of your child's insurance card with you.
Whitesburg Middle School will have a Literacy Night on Monday March 17 from 5:00-7:00pm in the gym. The them is "Wild About Reading" and will feature the 4-H Extension Raptor Program and Chris Epling Illustrations. Students in attendance can register to win a Nook Color Tablet and pizza will be served. All WMS students are invited to come join the fun!
Camp Nathanael will have an overnight camp at their location at Emmalenna in Knott County Friday March 14th into Saturday March 15th for Letcher County Students in grades 4, 5 and 6. For more info or to register contact Michelle Moushan at 633-2411.
Dr. Mike Potter and Dr. Lee Townsend From the University of Kentucky Department of Entomology will be speaking on Spiders, Head Lice, Bed Bugs and Brown Stink Bugs (basically home or building invaders). Monday, March 17, 2014 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at the Letcher County Extension Office. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Shad Baker at 606-633-2362. This In Service will offer Continuing Education Hours for those who need those for work or school. It is free and open to the Public. Everyone is welcome, but especially people that are health care providers (health dept., hospitals, nursing homes, EMS, etc.) apartment communities/multi-unit housing, hotels/motels public schools, colleges, Government entities such as social services, fire departments, police, solid waste, Senior Citizen Centers and pest control companies.
The members of Letcher County Extension Homemaker Clubs are proud to announce they will be sponsoring a $250.00 college scholarship to help a local student continue their education for the coming fall semester.
The following are guidelines for the scholarship:
1. The recipient must live in Letcher County
2. They must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
3. They must be enrolled in or accepted by an accredited
college or university.
4. They must submit a letter requesting the scholarship, a
transcript of their high school grades and a brief
statement of their future plans.
5. The scholarship will be awarded by a Letcher County
Extension Homemaker Committee based on the items in
number four above.
6. The Committee’s decision will be final.
All the information requested in number four above must be submitted by May 1, 20014, to:
