CHRISTMAS ON THE CREEK will be held Friday December 20, 5:00-9:00pm at Cowan Community Center. It's a community gathering sponsored by MCHC and the Cowan community Action group. There will be dinner, a Carcassonnne Square dance, Lee Sexton, health fair, Christmas story telling, Santa Claus and more. $5.00 admission for 13 and older. Under 13 gets in free. There will also be lots of freebies.
The Mayking Fire Department will have Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning December 14th from 9:00-11:30am at the Fire Department. Breakfast will include scrambled eggs, hot gravy and buscuits, sausage or ham, cooked apples and your choice of coffee, milk or hot chocolate. Prices are $6.00 for ages 8 and up, $3.00 each for ages 1 to 8. A picture with Santa is $2.00. Everyone is welcome.
The City of Whitesburg Christmas Parade will be held at 5:00pm on Friday December 13th on Main Street in Downtown Whitesburg. It will be part of the Christmas In Our Hometown Kids Day Event. There will be events throughout downtown Whitesburg including a live nativity, petting zoo, Santa train, fire truck rides and Santa Clause inside the library with treats for all the kids. If you, your group, club or school would like to be in the parade contact Martha Watts at 633-3146 or Whitesburg City Hall at 633-3700. Prize money will be given to the best floats and trophies will be given to the best decorated businesses. It's all presented by the Mayor James Wiley Craft, the Whitesburg City Council and the Letcher County Kids Day Committee.

The Harry M. Caudill Library Main Street in Whitesburg is having a book sale. They are making room for new materials and giving you the rewards. It's only $1.00 for a grocery size bag of hard back and paperback book. You can choose the books yourself but bring your own bag!
