Whitesburg American Legion Ladies Aux Fun Day Sunday August 30th

The Whitesburg American Legion Ladies Auxillary is sponsoring a "Fun Day" on Sunday August 30th at 1:00pm at the American Legion Post 152 on Pine Mountain.  There will be food plus corn hole and other games.  You are invited!

Route 7 Appalachian Artisan Center Bluegrass For The Arts Event

The Route 7 Appalachian Artisan Fellowship presents a Bluegrass For The Arts event this Saturday August 29th at 6:00pm at the Campbell's Branch Community Center.  Featured music groups will be Will Caudill & Route 7, Shonda Baker & Friends along with 7 South.   Hot Dog dinners will be sold,  there will be an auction of donated items, plus a drawing will be held for a 6 foot picnic table.  All proceeds go to send 5 members to the Brushy Fork Art Institute and to fun an Artisan Center in West Letcher County.  Entry free is $5.00 per person and all are welcome!

VFW Corn Hole Tournament Sunday August 30th

Whitesburg VFW Post 5829 will have it's 1st annual corn hole tournament this Sunday August 30th at 1:00pm at the VFW building at Pine Mountain Junction.  1st place is $100.00, 2nd place is $50.00 and 3rd place is $25.00.  Prizes are made possible by District 2 Magistrate Terry Adams, District 3 Magistrate Woody Holbrook, Letcher Funeral Home and Greg Hale incorporated.  For more info call 633-2663.

2015 Mountain Heritage Festival Theme Info

The theme for the 2015 Mountain Heritage Festival is "Going to the Mountains is Going Home." The Mountain Heritage Festival Committee has decided to honor physicians who have served professionally and faithfully for many years as health care providers in Letcher County. Physicians who have cared for Letcher County residents and have encouraged patients to attain and maintain healthy lifestyles will be acknowledged as grand marshals of the 2015 Mountain Heritage Festival Parade on Saturday, September 26. The festival committee is asking for nominations of physicians who have made a positive impact on the lives of Letcher County residents, have been employed in Letcher County for 15 years or more and have made Letcher County their home. Life Line Classes at Jeremiah Missionary Baptist Church
