A Pike County man accused of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid last year has pled guilty.
Jerry Shields, 28, of Virgie, entered the plea in Pike County Circuit Court Monday.
Investigators say surveillance footage showed Shields colliding with a car driven by Paul Newsome on May 13, 2017, and driving away.
Newsome succumbed to his injuries a few days later.
Prosecutors recommend a two and a half year sentence for Shields as part of the plea agreement.
Shields is scheduled for sentencing June 29th at 10 a.m.
