Shelly Damron and Craig Carter were transported to Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and were later released. A passenger in the F-150 pickup, 32 year old Joshua Craig Carter of Nicholasville, KY was pronounced deceased at the scene by Letcher County Coroner Renee Campbell.
Joshua Carter was the son of the driver, Craig Carter.
While this incident remains under investigation, no apparent contributing factors have been determined at this time. Toxicology results from blood specimens given by both drivers, which are routinely obtained in fatal collision investigations, are pending. Detective Brandon Thomas with KSP Post 13 is heading this investigation.
